Insomniac Games is continuing development on its upcoming game, Marvel’s Wolverine, and has stated it’s still on track for a Fall 2026 release. Many expected a new trailer at the upcoming State of Play event, but Insomniac has announced they won’t be sharing further details until Spring.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Marvel’s Wolverine won’t appear at State of Play this week, but the studio will probably just share information about what to expect when details are ready. They might also re-show the gameplay trailer from September.
Sony is anticipating that Marvel’s Wolverine will be a key game for the PlayStation, with CFO Lin Tao describing it as their first major release planned for 2026. She made this announcement during a discussion with investors, responding to a question about how Grand Theft Auto 6’s November 19th launch might affect the game. Tao stated that Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to be a significant driver of sales for Sony.
A recent report suggests that Insomniac Games is aiming to release Marvel’s Wolverine in either September or October. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports this is to boost sales before GTA 6 comes out. While GTA 6 is expected to be a hit on all consoles, it’s likely to be particularly popular on the PlayStation 5 compared to Xbox Series X/S.
According to Schreier, the game Wolverine is likely to be released in either September or October. While it will probably sell well on Xbox, PlayStation is expected to be the primary platform – essentially acting like a PlayStation exclusive. Most sales are anticipated on PlayStation, and the game is expected to boost PlayStation 5 sales. Schreier believes Sony is structuring its entire release schedule around Grand Theft Auto, and won’t release any competing titles around the same time.
As a huge Marvel fan, I was so hyped after watching the gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine – it’s pretty much all we’ve seen of the game so far! It really showed off how intense and violent Logan will be – you can actually tear enemies apart with his speed and claws. The trailer featured some classic villains like the Sentinels, which was awesome. From what we know, the story is going to tie in with other big X-Men characters like Mystique and Omega Red. And get this – the game will take you all over the world, including Japan, Canada, and the cool city of Madripoor!
The game Marvel’s Wolverine will initially be available only on PlayStation 5. However, Insomniac Games has a history of bringing their titles to PC after the console release, as they did with Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
