A new trailer for Marvel’s Wonder Man series has just been released, appearing quickly like the short teasers for Avengers: Doomsday! The previous trailer gave us a first look at the hero’s abilities, and this newest one shows off what Wonder Man’s costume will look like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and fans of the comic book character will likely be happy with it!

We get our first look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in his Wonder Man costume just five seconds into the clip! He’s acting out a scene with a tennis ball on a stick – which will likely be replaced with a CGI character in the final movie, a common technique for Marvel Studios. The costume is a playful jab at the motion capture suits actors wear, but it’s also a surprisingly accurate representation of Wonder Man’s current comic book look. And Abdul-Mateen II doesn’t look silly at all in the suit and sunglasses – he looks genuinely cool and powerful.

With each new glimpse of Wonder Man, the series looks more and more captivating. Initially, the trailers focused on the show’s clever, self-aware humor – an actor named Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is trying to win the role of Wonder Man in a reboot of a classic superhero film. But as more trailers have been released, we’ve discovered that a former actor with a controversial past, Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), is helping Simon, and that director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić) has a wildly ambitious plan to create a superhero movie that stands out from all the others. Now, it’s becoming clear that the series’ creator, Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi), and showrunner Andrew Guest (30 Rock, Community) are weaving in genuine superhero mythology, hinting that Simon possesses mysterious and incredibly powerful abilities that could make him a major force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
