As a huge Marvel fan, I’m so excited about the possibility of a new X-Men movie! It’s been a long wait, but I’m hearing rumors that it could finally come out in May 2028. Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but just hearing a potential release date has everyone buzzing!
X-Men reboot movie rumored to get May 2028 release date
Rumors are swirling about when Marvel Studios will finally reboot the X-Men franchise. A recent conversation on The Hot Mic podcast suggested May 2028 as a likely release date, which would be welcome news for fans who have been anticipating the project for a long time. Jeff Sneider, during the discussion, indicated that Marvel is probably planning the X-Men movie for that slot.
The discussion started with Rocha playfully asking Sneider if he was ready to share some big news. Sneider replied that there were a lot of temporary release dates currently listed for Marvel films. Rocha confirmed this, and Sneider then stated he believed a film scheduled for May 5th was likely the first Marvel X-Men movie, potentially releasing in the summer of 2028.
Rocha immediately asked if the film being discussed was the Marvel-produced X-Men movie expected in May 2028. Sneider confirmed he had heard that was the case. They also talked about how this release date might fit with the planned December 2027 premiere of Avengers: Secret Wars. Rocha remembered earlier reports suggesting X-Men would come out roughly three months after Secret Wars, but Sneider clarified the timeframe was actually closer to five months.
Although Marvel hasn’t officially announced anything, Jeff Sneider is a reliable source of industry news. Plus, the studio frequently releases its biggest movies in May.
Michael Lesslie is writing the script for the new X-Men movie, and Jake Schreier, the director of Thunderbolts, will be directing it. Marvel hasn’t announced the actors who will star in the reboot yet.
