Mass Effect 5 Studio Hiring for Production Director to Act As “A High-Impact Leader”

BioWare faced a difficult period last year following the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Now, as a studio concentrating on a single project, their full attention is on the next Mass Effect game. To help with development, executive producer and project director Michael Gamble recently announced they are hiring for a key senior leadership position.

I was so excited to see this! He announced on Twitter that new people will be reporting directly to him, and it sounds like things are really taking off. They’re hiring a Production Director for the next Mass Effect game, and they’re looking for someone who’s a huge fan – they specifically mentioned a ‘passion for the Mass Effect universe’! It’s a big role – they want a ‘high-impact leader’. You need a lot of experience too – over ten years working on big, AAA games, and a really strong background in developing action RPGs and RPGs. It’s awesome to see they’re taking this so seriously!

This role requires close collaboration with creative leaders, development teams, and both internal and external partners to maintain the game’s core vision and guarantee top-quality delivery. The ideal candidate will be a passionate gamer with a strong understanding of competitive gaming, and will be dedicated to building and mentoring high-performing teams using effective production methods.

On top of everything else, they’ll also need to constantly improve the game and the team itself, building a great work environment and turning big ideas into amazing experiences for players. It’s a demanding role, suggesting that work on a new project may already be underway.

It’s been a while – the first glimpses of the next Mass Effect game actually appeared back in 2020! Since then, BioWare has shared more concept art, including a potential look at the new main character. Recently, during N7 Day celebrations, they cleverly hid artwork hinting at a civil war among the Krogan for fans to find.

Although production is starting to pick up, the sequel likely won’t be released for a while. Reports from last year suggest a release date of 2028 or 2029, but considering BioWare’s history of development challenges, those plans are subject to change. We’ll have to wait and see, so keep an eye out for more information.
