After nearly 40 years, He-Man and Skeletor return to cinemas. One of the film’s post-credit scenes introduces the most powerful being in this universe – a character with immense power, even in a world where everyone possesses some degree of it.

The film includes two scenes after the credits. The first playfully imitates those public service announcement endings. The second shows Evil-Lyn finding Skeletor’s head, followed by his signature laugh. However, the most significant scene was tucked in between – it hinted at Force Captain Adora, who is revealed to be Adam’s twin sister.

Okay, so it’s really cool that we’re finally seeing this character on screen! As a long-time fan, I remember the animated series on Netflix kinda teased her existence – it felt like they were setting something up. But apparently, there were legal hurdles that stopped them from actually showing her back then. Thankfully, it looks like those issues are sorted for this live-action version, and we’re actually getting to see her! It’s been a long wait, but I’m excited!

The beginning of She-Ra and the Masters of the Universe features Queen Marlena and Man-at-Arms hinting that a girl will come back to them, similar to how Adam did. The scene then immediately cuts to show She-Ra holding the Sword of Protection, with what looks like the classic Fright Zone from the original cartoon series in the background.

The upcoming 2026 film kept the identity of the She-Ra actress a secret, likely because casting isn’t final until a sequel is confirmed. This also allowed the filmmakers to focus on just a few key elements of her look – the famous bracers and red cape. Interestingly, no previous adaptation of the story has ever successfully brought both powerful cousins together.

Despite initial concerns, things are looking up for the film. Critics generally like it, and audiences seem to love it. Positive word-of-mouth could lead to strong box office numbers, potentially encouraging studios to continue the franchise. However, the biggest profits won’t come from movie tickets—they’ll come from toy sales. Who Is She-Ra, the Princess of Power, and Her Relation to He-Man

The Masters of the Universe cartoon and toy line from Filmation in the 1980s were incredibly popular. Mattel, the company behind it, was surprised to find that girls were buying the action figures just as much as boys. Because of this, they created a spin-off series aimed at girls called She-Ra: Princess of Power. She-Ra often aired right after Masters of the Universe, and even featured episodes where the characters from both shows teamed up, along with a special Christmas episode. The new series also expanded the story and background of this fictional world.

Adora is the twin sister of Adam (He-Man), but she was taken by the evil Hordak when she was a baby. Very few people knew she existed, including Man-at-Arms and the Sorceress. On the planet Etheria, Adora grew up training as a warrior and became a leader in the Horde army. The Netflix series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power kept this backstory largely the same. In The Secret of the Sword, Adam and his companion Cringer travel to Etheria to find Adora. They give her the Sword of Protection, which is similar to Adam’s Sword of Power. This sword transforms her into She-Ra, and she joins forces with her cousin He-Man to fight for good.

Similar to He-Man, She-Ra has incredible cosmic powers and immense strength. Though He-Man is often seen as the strongest character in the Masters of the Universe world, She-Ra is a serious contender. In the 2026 version of the story, her combat skills actually give her an edge over He-Man, making a strong case for her being the most powerful character in the entire franchise.

She-Ra benefits from a compelling villain in Hordak, who was originally presented in The Secret of the Sword as Skeletor’s teacher. This created an interesting dynamic where He-Man and Skeletor found themselves on the same side against him. Later episodes revealed both Hordak and Skeletor answered to someone even more powerful. This setup opens up the possibility for a future Masters of the Universe story where He-Man and the heroes might need to bring Skeletor back to help defeat an even bigger enemy.

Why She-Ra Is the Most Important Masters of the Universe Character Ever

After the Masters of the Universe toys became popular, Mattel discovered that He-Man’s catchphrase, “I have the power,” appealed to both boys and girls. While He-Man was similar to other action heroes aimed at boys, most toys for girls focused on things like cooking, beauty, and fashion. This made She-Ra stand out – she was not only a powerful female character, even more so than He-Man, but she also attracted boys as well as girls.

She-Ra dolls, popular for their bright colors and brushable hair, were a bit of a puzzle for stores. While designed for girls, boys also wanted to play with them, which went against the strict idea that toys should be for only one gender. She-Ra offered girls a classic fantasy hero to inspire adventures beyond just playing with clothes—something the Barbie movie also explored. And unlike characters like Princess Leia or Ripley, She-Ra was a powerful female figure specifically marketed to girls.

The original She-Ra cartoon featured a strong female character, Teela, at a time when that was unusual. While progress has been made, the outdated gender roles that She-Ra challenged in the 1980s still exist today, and bringing her back could help continue that fight. Despite being created to sell toys, both Masters of the Universe and She-Ra: Princess of Power were surprisingly meaningful. They told timeless stories about kindness, responsibility, and courage. Both He-Man and She-Ra are fantastic characters individually, but they’re even more powerful as a team.
