Masters of the Universe: Wings of Fate’s Tim Sheridan Reveals How the Book Gives Orko His Due (Where the Movie Didn’t) [EXCLUSIVE]

The Masters of the Universe movie featured many of the popular characters from the original series, and they looked very similar to their cartoon versions. Orko appeared too, but only in a short scene after the credits. Fans wished he’d been in the movie more, and now the new Masters of the Universe: Wings of Fate series is giving Orko a bigger role.

The comic series Masters of the Universe: Wings of Fate connects to the new movie and features a story by Tim Sheridan, art by Will Sliney, colors by Israel Silva, and lettering by AndWorld Design. In an interview with ComicBook, Sheridan explained he quickly decided to focus the story on Orko. He reviewed the movie’s script and asked himself what unique angle the comic could explore. He realized fans would want to see more of the characters they loved, and he felt Orko offered a great opportunity for deeper exploration. Knowing it would be a surprising choice for readers, Sheridan committed to building the story around Orko to provide more detail and expand on the world established in the film.

Working on the Revelation project really made me think about Orko. You know, when I was growing up, everyone used to tease him, and for a long time, he wasn’t a very popular character. But lately, I’ve noticed a real shift – people are starting to appreciate him! That’s why I figured fans would be excited to see more stories focused on him, and it seemed like a natural place to explore.

Masters of the Universe Wings of Fate Also Spotlights The Sorceress

Although Orko is the main character readers experience throughout the Wings of Fate series, it also highlights The Sorceress – a well-known figure from Masters of the Universe. She doesn’t have much screen time in the film, but this series will delve deeper into her background and impressive abilities.

Sheridan explained that the Sorceress is a significant character in the film, despite not having as much screen time as some might think. He was particularly interested in exploring her story after the attack on Eternos. He wondered what her next steps would be and why she often appears as a falcon – a form longtime fans know she takes when she’s away from Castle Grayskull. The idea that she had been forced to leave the castle actually sparked the entire storyline.

Okay, so basically this movie is about how anyone – even someone you might not expect – can rise up and be heroic. It follows Orko as he finds an injured falcon and really steps up to nurse it back to health. It’s a sweet story about answering the call when someone needs help.

As a total movie and comic book fan, I’m excited to share that Masters of the Universe is playing in cinemas right now! And if you’re a comic reader like me, the first issue of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate just hit comic book stores.
