Matty Healy’s mom is not leaving any blank spaces on her feelings for his ex Taylor Swift.

In 2023, when Denise Welch and her former partner parted ways, she expressed relief that she didn’t get the specific role she was up for, as she now feels “happy” about missing out on it.

After that, Taylor and Matty have each taken a new step in their lives; the 1975 singer is now engaged to model Gabriella “Gabbriette” Bechtel. Regarding their romantic relationship, it seems his mother has given her blessing.

“He’s very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabriette,” Denise said, “who is gorgeous.” 

Matty’s mom isn’t the only relative who has expressed opinions about TTPD. Not long after the release of the Grammy-winning album, Matty’s aunt Debbie Dedes also voiced her thoughts on it.

In his recollection of that period, he commented, “For a while, my mustache and number 87 jersey were quite iconic, and I was wearing them when I first encountered Taylor.
