Taylor Sheridan has become famous for creating many popular dramas, but one is coming to an end. The show Mayor of Kingstown has been renewed for a fifth season, which will be its final one.
Now that the exciting fourth season finale has aired, we’re saying goodbye to Jeremy Renner’s character, Michael McLusky. Also, the upcoming season of Mayor of Kingstown will be a bit shorter, with only eight episodes, according to Deadline.
The first four seasons each had ten episodes, so the final season is likely to be emotional for viewers.
The show returns to Kingstown, focusing on the McClusky family and especially Mike, who is now facing challenges from newcomers trying to undermine his power.
The latest season was full of intense moments, surprising plot developments, and featured new cast members including Edie Falco, Lennie James, Laura Benanti, and Niko Nicotera.
Mayor of Kingstown hasn’t attracted as many viewers as Taylor Sheridan’s other popular shows, like Yellowstone, Landman, and Tulsa King, which likely contributed to its conclusion.
Despite its polished look, similar to other shows by creator Taylor Sheridan, Mayor of Kingstown hasn’t attracted a large audience. While earlier seasons did well enough to appear in Nielsen’s top 10 for original series, the latest season (season 4) didn’t even make the chart.
Okay, so there’s talk of more Mayor of Kingstown coming, which is great! But the way the last episode wrapped up… it really threw me. I was reading ScreenRant and saw that Hugh Dillon, who co-created the show, had said Taylor Sheridan – the big brains behind it all – was planning for multiple seasons. So, the ending felt… unexpected, considering that. It definitely left me wondering where things are going, or if they’re going, despite those earlier plans.
As a huge fan, it’s so cool to hear this! Apparently, when they first planned things out, this one guy – he really has a vision for how the whole story wraps up. I love a good intro, and especially one that really grabs you right away, and he’s got a planned ending for season 7. We don’t know if it’ll actually get to season 7, or if that’s where things will ultimately conclude, but the main points of the ending are already known by everyone involved. It’s reassuring to know there’s a plan!
He’ll explain everything thoroughly when you speak with him. We’re aiming to reach season 7, as that’s the furthest point we can access, and that’s where the information has always been located.
There’s no confirmed release date yet for the fifth and final season of Mayor of Kingstown, and details about the plot or new cast members haven’t been announced. But, since the show has consistently followed a fairly regular schedule, we expect the last season to air sometime later this year or next year. Stay tuned for updates!
