In a recent announcement on platform X, both McDonald’s and Doodles have confirmed that they will be collaborating for special Holiday cups available from November 18th, under the McCafé x Doodles partnership.
McDonald’s hooks up with change agent
As reported in advertising publications, the McDonald’s-Doodles campaign has been named “GM Spread Joy.” This campaign will showcase exclusive McCafé cups adorned with artwork inspired by Doodles, and offer participants a shot at winning digital merchandise and animations available on the McDonald’s mobile app. The app will recreate a sensation similar to opening collectible card packs, offering an engaging experience for users.
Additionally, the campaign is gaining traction through social media initiatives like the #GMSpreadJoy challenges on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, as mentioned. In a statement, McDonald’s Chief Marketing Officer Tariq Hassan expressed:
“Beyond the web3 scope, we chose Doodles because they are an agent of change in the cultural landscape, and they span beyond digital assets — an entertainment brand in itself with a fearless community we cannot wait to interact with and more importantly, bring to more people across the U.S.”
A sweet life after the NFT boom
On November 12th, McDonald’s shared a mysterious animated clip on their Twitter account, which turned out to be a nod towards the popular digital artwork collection known as Doodles. This subtle reference sparked a significant increase in the sales of Doodles NFTs.
Doodles announced that their community will be expanding soon, as they shared McDonald’s upcoming post,” is a possible paraphrase for the original sentence in a natural and easy-to-read manner. By mid-June 2022, Doodles had already brought in more than half a million dollars through secondary sales. Doodles completed a funding round in September 2022, setting their valuation at $704 million. In March 2023, they announced a shift from focusing on NFT projects to building a media empire. Additionally, they have formed partnerships with Arizona Iced Tea, Adidas, and footwear brand Crocs.
