Mckenna Grace Is Already A Bona Fide Scream Queen, But She Went Above And Beyond To Get A Part In The Five Nights At Freddy’s Franchise

At just 19 years old, Mckenna Grace has already established herself as a leading horror actress. With roles in popular scary movies like The Haunting of Hill House, Annabelle Comes Home, Malignant, and the Ghostbusters films, she’s built a strong reputation in the genre – and she genuinely loves scary movies! This suggests we’ll see even more of her in the future, starting with Scream 7 next year. While it might seem like the creators of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 specifically sought her out, she actually worked incredibly hard and proactively pursued the role, essentially paving her own way into the film franchise.

It’s clear from Mckenna Grace’s work and online presence that she’s a genuine fan of geek culture – and that’s a good thing! But when I recently spoke with her about the upcoming home video release of Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, she revealed just how much she loves the horror game. She admitted she actively reached out to Blumhouse Productions – the studio making the films – a few years ago when she heard the first movie was in development, making it very clear how eager she was to be involved. As Grace explained to me,

I’ve been a huge Five Nights at Freddy’s fan for ages, and honestly, I practically begged to be in the movie! I was constantly calling my agents, checking for updates every few months, and even went directly to Blumhouse, offering to play any role – even just a small one! I really know the story inside and out, so I truly felt like I could contribute, maybe even as just a background character. I was hoping they’d take a chance on me!

In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, Mckenna Grace has a major role. She plays Lisa, a ghost hunter who investigates strange events at the original Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. During the investigation, Lisa becomes possessed by the spirit of Charlotte, a girl murdered by William Afton (Matthew Lillard), who wants to get revenge on all parents.

Grace says Five Nights at Freddy’s was really important in helping her learn about horror. She explains that she developed her love for the genre by growing up with games like Five Nights at Freddy’s and the books of Stephen King. She then went on to say…

Five Nights at Freddy’s has always been a huge passion of mine, honestly. It’s wild to think about – I was a homeschooled kid with a lot of free time. I’d work when I needed to, but otherwise, I was totally lost in movies, video games, and books. My dad and I were always reading Stephen King together. Really, I just worked and indulged my nerdy side as much as possible (laughs). That’s why I’m such a fan of so much of the stuff I get to be involved with – I’m secretly part of so many different fan communities!

Her dedication to acting is clearly leading to success. She recently starred in Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 and will appear in Scream 7. Plus, she’s joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping, which comes out next November.

Despite still being shown in cinemas and having earned over $100 million in the US, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is now also available to watch at home – you can buy or rent it digitally.
