The Marvel Cinematic Universe often introduces characters but doesn’t revisit them for many years. This happened with the early movie The Incredible Hulk because of a special production arrangement, which led to its elements being left out of the story for a long time. However, Marvel has recently started bringing these forgotten heroes back. William Hurt reprised his role as Thaddeus Ross, beginning with Captain America: Civil War. Tim Roth returned as Abomination in the Disney+ series She-Hulk, and Tim Blake Nelson made a comeback as The Leader in Captain America: Brave New World.
Tim Roth, who played Emil Blonsky (The Abomination), discussed the possibility of reprising his role in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films. He was well-received for his return in the 2022 series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and fans are eager to see if he’ll appear in upcoming projects like Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. When asked about returning, Roth told GamesRadar+ that he’d be happy to, saying, “Yeah, just go. Be fun.”
Tom Roth Only Joined the MCU to Embarrass His Kids

Tim Roth has jokingly admitted he took on roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a part in The Incredible Hulk, simply to embarrass his children. He even said he did the Planet of the Apes reboot for the same reason! While The Incredible Hulk wasn’t a critical success and might have initially caused embarrassment, the massive popularity of the MCU has turned that around. Now, most kids would be proud to learn their fathers were involved in such a popular franchise.
As a fan, I was so glad to see Tom Roth get some great material to work with when he came back in the seriously underrated She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It’s a shame that show got a lot of negativity from some MCU fans – either people who just aren’t into female leads (we saw that happen with Captain Marvel, unfortunately) or those who weren’t familiar with the She-Hulk comics and didn’t realize she was breaking the fourth wall long before Deadpool! But honestly, I thought She-Hulk was fantastic, and Roth was a blast as the Abomination in it.
Mark Ruffalo came back for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law for a different reason than he did for The Incredible Hulk. This time, it wasn’t about sparing his kids embarrassment – he simply thought the project would be enjoyable. He especially liked working with Tatiana Maslany (who plays She-Hulk) and had a previous connection with her husband, Brendan Hines, from their time on the show Lie to Me. He also praised Mark Ruffalo, calling him “hilarious.”
