Despite the fact that Phase 6 has just commenced, enthusiasts are already conjecturing about the potential release date of MCU Phase 7. As the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re all eager to discover where the superhero franchise will lead us next. While there isn’t a lot of concrete information available regarding Disney’s plans for Phase 7, there is enough hinted at to spark theories about when it could premiere.
When will the first MCU Phase 7 movie come out?
The final phase of our current storyline, dubbed Phase 6, will culminate with the premiere of Avengers: Secret Wars in theaters on December 17, 2027. This movie marks the end of The Multiverse Saga and could potentially provide insights into where the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might head next.
Marvel Studios has confirmed their plan to put out two movies and four series on Disney Plus annually. If they stick to this schedule, it’s predicted that the first Phase 7 film will debut in the year 2028. Looking at previously reserved release dates, the most logical choice seems to be July 2028.
A summer release window aligns perfectly with Marvel’s pacing. Black Widow marked the beginning of Phase 4 in July 2021, and typically, Marvel Studios releases a major summer blockbuster paired with a winter sequel. By setting Secret War for a release seven months later, it allows the audience’s anticipation to grow while giving the marketing team ample time to unveil teasers that set the stage for the upcoming storyline, whether it involves mutants (a hint) or something completely fresh and unexpected.
The production schedule aligns with this timeline too. For large-scale superhero productions, at least sixteen months of post-production is necessary after filming ends. If principal photography starts in early 2027 (which seems reasonable for a July 2028 release), Marvel will have enough time to finish the post-production without putting excessive strain on their visual-effects pipeline, which has experienced some recent setbacks.
Before Disney officially reveals its upcoming lineup of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, these predictions are based on speculation. Nevertheless, considering the studio’s pattern, it’s unlikely that more than a year will elapse between consecutive MCU movies. As of now, we can anticipate the release of an MCU Phase 7 film as early as July 2028.
