We were quite surprised – and disappointed – by this recent news. Alex Perez from *The Cosmic Circus* held a Q&A session on their Discord server, where they discussed what to expect from the *Doomsday* project, the future of Yelena Belova within the franchise, and the Hulk’s increasingly aggressive behavior.
Perez shared some potentially disappointing news about the upcoming reset of the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the *Secret Wars* storyline. When a fan asked if the reset would essentially erase everything that came before, Perez explained it would be more of a selective refresh. He said the MCU will mostly keep the original timeline intact – around 75-80% of it – while bringing back certain heroes and villains and altering or removing smaller plot points that fans (and Marvel’s Kevin Feige) aren’t happy with. It won’t be a complete reboot, just adjustments to details they want to change.
This Feels Like A Disappointing Move From Marvel

Let’s be real – the Marvel Cinematic Universe could use some major changes, not just minor adjustments or being ignored. It’s getting complicated! Keeping up with everything requires a lot of effort, and there are too many unanswered questions from past movies and shows. What’s going to happen with Kang’s different versions? What was the deal with the Eternals? And seriously, where’s Jake Lockley? We need answers!
It’s no surprise Marvel continues to rely on familiar formulas, even if it’s not the best long-term strategy for the franchise and often leaves plot threads hanging. They can easily bring back popular characters and actors while replacing those who are ready to move on, ensuring continued financial success. One fan theory suggests this approach could be worthwhile if ‘Secret Wars’ ends with the Fantastic Four’s world being restored, allowing future MCU stories to take place in that timeline – essentially providing a clean slate. This would neatly resolve current issues and seems to be the direction Marvel is heading.
We’re curious to hear your ideas about how the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be refreshed or rebooted. Share your thoughts in the comments below, and join the conversation on the ComicBook Forum to see what other fans are suggesting.
