Marvel fans have a lot to anticipate as the release of Avengers: Doomsday in December gets closer. The movie’s trailers have showcased characters like Thor and Captain America, and even introduced familiar faces from the X-Men – including Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Cyclops – bringing the two universes together. Plus, groundwork is already being laid for the Secret Wars storyline. However, the future of one character remains uncertain.
While promoting her new movie, Ready or Not 2, Kathryn Newton didn’t reveal much about the future of her character, Cassie Lang, especially with the upcoming Doomsday storyline. She remained somewhat secretive when asked if there’s more to Cassie’s story and whether she might appear in future Avengers films. However, Newton expressed her love for Marvel and acknowledged the vast possibilities within the Marvel Universe, hinting that anything could happen.
Is There a Future for Cassie Lang?
Katheryn acknowledged that with Marvel, anything is possible. When asked about the possibility of her character leading to the Young Avengers, given Cassie Lang’s eventual role, she said she wasn’t aware of any such plans. She then shared a personal story about her childhood dream of becoming a movie star, sparked by seeing Iron Man. She remembered leaving the theater at a young age and realizing she needed to be in a Marvel movie if she wanted to achieve that dream. She fondly recalled a recent trip to Disneyland, where she sometimes sees characters like Ant-Man and even someone portraying Cassie Lang.
Given that this is Marvel, the storytelling options are endless. Following the comic books, Cassie Lang becoming the leader of the Young Avengers as Stature often happens after her father’s death – a storyline many Ant-Man fans would prefer to avoid. However, this event could pave the way for exciting new Marvel stories, particularly as the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces its next generation of heroes and villains, potentially leading into storylines like Doomsday and Secret Wars.
