Pedro Pascal, fresh off his debut as Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is now being considered by fans as a potential DC Comics hero for the upcoming DC Universe. While he’s quickly become a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with his role as the leader of the Fantastic Four expected to be important for years to come, that doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility of him also appearing in DC films.
As a huge DC fan, I’ve been thinking about which actors would be perfect for the new universe James Gunn and Peter Safran are building, and Pedro Pascal keeps coming to mind. I recently saw some amazing fan art on Instagram by @21xfour that got me thinking – he’d be incredible as The Question! Given how The Question is connected to other heroes we already know are part of the DCU, it just feels right. Plus, Pascal is such a talented actor; he’s got the perfect blend of mystery and versatility to really nail that role.
How Pedro Pascal’s Question Would Fit Into the New DC Universe

The Question first appeared in a DC Comics story in 1967, originally published by Charlton Comics in Blue Beetle (Vol. 5) #1 as part of the story “Who is the Question?” He began as Vic Sage, a journalist known for speaking his mind, who used a special mask made from a fictional material called Pseudoderm to conceal his identity while fighting crime. After DC Comics acquired the character in 1983, Sage continued his work in Hub City and became a more developed character, eventually teaming up with heroes like Green Arrow, Blue Beetle, Peacemaker, and the Huntress.
As a big DC fan, I’ve always loved the Question. It’s been interesting seeing how his character has evolved, especially after the New 52, where he’s even popped up with the Suicide Squad and, believe it or not, the Justice League! With James Gunn seemingly interested in revisiting his take on the Suicide Squad, I think now’s the perfect time to finally bring the Question into the new DCU. And honestly, can you imagine Pedro Pascal as the Question? He’d be amazing. He’s got that cool, charismatic energy, but he can also nail those more mysterious, even ruthless roles – just like his performance in The Mandalorian. He’d totally embody that suave, philosophical vibe the Question is known for.
Warner Bros. and DC Films once considered adding the Question to their superhero universe, but those plans didn’t materialize. With the new DC Universe aiming for diverse stories and themes, the Question would be a perfect addition, offering a dark and realistic detective narrative. In DC Comics, the Question was part of Checkmate, a team that recently appeared in season 2 of the Peacemaker series on the DCU. This makes now an ideal time to finally introduce this mysterious character to live-action audiences.
