A new, puzzling photo posted by the Russo Brothers on social media has gotten fans even more excited about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. As a result, people immediately began sharing the image online, trying to figure out what it might mean. Even though the movie isn’t due out for another year, there’s already a lot of online discussion about it, particularly when fans might get their first glimpse in a teaser trailer.

Fans try to decipher the Russos’ new Avengers: Doomsday image

The Russo Brothers recently shared a blurry, black-and-white photo on Instagram, hinting at their upcoming project, Avengers: Doomsday. They didn’t offer any explanation for the image, only using the film’s hashtag in the post.

Fans were quick to speculate about a new image released with no explanation. One popular theory suggested the image’s ‘V’ represented the number 5, hinting that the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday would be released in five days. This user shared the idea on X (formerly Twitter), simply stating, “V as in 5. 5 days until the trailer drops.”

Someone else pointed out that the image features a ‘V’, referencing Victor Von Doom, Doctor Doom’s true name. Interestingly, the image appears to show a cloaked figure when flipped upside down, suggesting it’s likely Doom himself.

One fan commented, “MEPHISTO CONFIRMED!” This refers to the time when viewers guessed that the character Mephisto would show up in shows and movies like WandaVision, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and eventually, Ironheart.

One fan pointed out that the image bears a striking resemblance to the logo on Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider jacket from the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., simply stating, “It looks like the Robbie Reyes jacket logo.”

Another fan pointed out that the image seemed to show a “crescent silhouette,” which they believe represents Marc Spector/Moon Knight and the god Khonshu. They also thought it hinted at the character’s split personality, referencing his dissociative identity disorder.

Daniel Richtman, a well-known source for industry news, jokingly responded to the image, simply tweeting, “Oh wow… a tree?”

Okay, Marvel fans, mark your calendars! We’re looking at December 18th, 2026 for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and just a year later, on December 17th, 2027, we’ll get ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. It’s a bit of a wait, but it sounds like it’ll be worth it!
