Mecha Franchise PATLABOR Returns to PS5 in First Game for Over 20 Years

The last dedicated PlayStation game in the popular mecha series PATLABOR came out on the PSP back in 2005, making the news about PATLABOR The Case Files quite noteworthy.

I’ve been a big fan of this series for ages, and while a few characters showed up in the game City Shrouded in Shadow back in 2017, it’s been pretty hard to find new content since then. Honestly, it feels like there hasn’t been much for us fans lately!

Good Smile Company, working with Chime Corporation, hopes to address this with their new game.

The game doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but here’s a description of it, as reported by Gematsu:

Experience classic moments from Mobile Police Patlabor in this exciting 3D action game for home consoles. You can play through the story as the Special Vehicle Section 2 in ‘Main Missions,’ or take on the role of their opponents in ‘Another Side Missions.’ The game features over 20 different Labors to pilot – learn to control everything from the Ingram and Griffon to the powerful Type Zero. Plus, hone your skills in ‘Simulator Mode’ with shooting practice and Labor battles.

Previous Patlabor games haven’t been available outside of Japan, so it will be exciting to see if this new installment is released in Western countries.

Based on how people reacted to the first trailer, it’s clear there’s a lot of worldwide excitement for this new game.
