Meet ChatGPT Pulse, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s favorite AI feature — a super-competent personal assistant that proactively delivers customized updates

ChatGPT has come a long way from being a basic chatbot. Thanks to regular updates from OpenAI, it’s now a much more powerful and capable AI tool.

I’ve noticed a fascinating trend: some people are actually stopping their use of traditional search engines. It’s notable because even prominent figures like Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, have mentioned they no longer use Google for searches. This raises the question: could tools like ChatGPT eventually replace Google as the go-to source for information? It’s too early to say for sure, but it’s definitely something I’m watching closely as a researcher.

OpenAI recently introduced a feature called Pulse for ChatGPT. It works by automatically keeping track of your conversations, your feedback, and information from connected apps – like your calendar – to proactively find and deliver relevant updates tailored to you.

Plus, OpenAI lets you customize this feature. You can tell ChatGPT what information is most helpful to you, and it will focus on that, ignoring anything you don’t need.

Just so you know, this feature isn’t rolling out to all users right away. ChatGPT Pulse is currently being tested with Pro users on mobile devices.

ChatGPT can now quietly work in the background to gather information for you. Every night, it reviews your past conversations, what you’ve told it, and your preferences to understand what matters most to you. Then, each day, it provides customized updates – things like reminders about topics you’ve been discussing, suggestions for easy dinner recipes, or helpful steps to achieve your goals, like training for a race.

ChatGPT Pulse can help you get ready for meetings by linking to your Google Calendar. It can even create a draft agenda for you! Plus, it can send you reminders and suggest restaurants if you’re planning a trip. Just remember, you’ll need to enable these features in the settings before you can start using them.

This feature provides a central place for helpful and up-to-date information. It helps users quickly understand what’s important, freeing up their time to focus on their priorities.
