The second season of One Piece has arrived, bringing both familiar and new characters along for the ride as they journey into the Grand Line.
As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to say the live-action series really gets One Piece! Even though Oda-sensei asked for some adjustments, they’ve stayed remarkably true to the original story. What’s even better is how much the actors nail the personalities and spirit of the animated characters – it’s like seeing them come to life!
Let’s take a look at the key groups in season 2, like the Straw Hat Pirates and Baroque Works. Here’s everything you need to know about the characters in One Piece.

One Piece season 2 cast: Who are the new characters?
Lera Abova plays Miss All-Sunday

If you recognize Lera Abova, it’s likely from one of her previous roles! Before joining the cast of One Piece season 2, she appeared in the comedy Honey Don’t!, the Netflix film Exterritorial, the spy thriller Anna, and the TV series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin.
Sophia Anne Caruso plays Miss Goldenweek

Miss Goldenweek is an Officer Agent of Baroque Works and the partner of Mr. 3. She’s an artist who uses her paintings to create ‘Colour Traps’ – illusions that hypnotize people through suggestion.
You might recognize Sophie Anne Caruso from Netflix’s “The School for Good and Evil,” where she played a leading role. She’s also been in projects like “David Bowie: The Last Five Years” and the TV series “Smash.”
Charithra Chandran plays Miss Wednesday

Miss Wednesday is a member of Baroque Works, an organization of secret agents and former bounty hunters. She works alongside Mr. 9, also known as Daniel Lasker. Similar to Miss All-Sunday, she has hidden depths and her allegiance to Baroque Works might not be absolute. Long-time viewers of the series will know who she really is and how she eventually becomes connected to the Straw Hat Pirates.
Many viewers will recognize Charithra Chandran from her role as Edwina Sharma in season two of the popular Netflix series, Bridgerton, where she was known as the ‘diamond of the season.’ She’s currently appearing in the film Christmas Karma, directed by Gurinder Chadha, and also has a role in the new sci-fi series, Dune: Prophecy.
Werner Coetser plays Dorry

Let me tell you about Dorry! He’s a really awesome Blue Ogre who plays a big role in the Little Garden arc. He actually becomes an ally to the Straw Hat Pirates, and he’s a huge help to them when they reach Elbaph. This guy is seriously strong and incredibly honorable, plus he’s an amazing swordsman! He used to be the captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, alongside his rival, Brogy the Red Ogre. These two have this hilarious, never-ending competition about who caught the bigger fish – it’s a long-running joke between them!
You might recognize Werner Coetser from his work as Bernard Jordaan on the South African soap opera 7de Laan. He’s also been in the series Diepe Waters and Getroud met Rugby.
Rob Colletti plays King Wapol

King Wapol is a powerful enemy of Luffy and his crew, formerly known as the cruel ruler of the Drum Kingdom. After his kingdom was attacked by Blackbeard Pirates, he became a pirate himself, and surprisingly, even started making toys. He has a special ability thanks to the Baku Baku no Mi, a Devil Fruit that lets him eat anything and transform it into a weapon.
King Wapol wears shiny tin armor and a hooded cape, and his recent actions have proven he’s as intimidating as everyone feared!
You might recognize Rob Colletti from his role as Dewey Finn in the first national tour of School of Rock: The Musical. He also appears in the Netflix film The Many Saints of Newark.
David Dastmalchian plays Mr. 3

Okay, so let me tell you about Mr. 3! He’s a really cool villain from the Little Garden arc – he works for this organization called Baroque Works as one of their Officer Agents. He teams up with Miss Goldenweek, and honestly, he thinks he’s a genius strategist, ranking higher than Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas. But what’s really awesome is his Devil Fruit power! He ate the Doru Doru no Mi, which lets him control wax. He can basically turn people into wax statues – it’s a super unique and creepy ability!
You might recognize David Dastmalchian from his work in popular sci-fi, superhero, and horror movies and shows. He’s appeared in projects like Dune, The Suicide Squad, Murderbot, and Late Night with the Devil.
Mark Harelik plays Dr. Hiriluk

Dr. Hiriluk is a key character and a father figure to Tony Tony Chopper, a reindeer-human hybrid. Originally a thief from Drum Island, Hiriluk dedicated his life to finding a cure for all illnesses and believed he could heal the island’s people, not just physically, but also spiritually.
Matt Owens, a co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer for Season 2, shared with TUDUM that this character would play a significant role when the writers first started planning the new season.
If you recognize Mark Harelik, it might be from his role as God in the series Preacher. He’s also appeared in popular TV shows like Castle Rock, Perry Mason, and The Morning Show.
Mikaela Hoover plays Tony Tony Chopper

Tony Tony Chopper is a beloved character from the series, a reindeer who ate the Hito Hito no Mi Devil Fruit, giving him the ability to transform and speak like a human. Originally from Drum Island and introduced at the Tudum event, Chopper was inspired by his father figure to pursue medicine and now serves as the Straw Hat Pirates’ doctor.
You might recognize Mikaela Hoover from her work with director James Gunn. She’s appeared in major films like Superman (as Cat Grant), Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Suicide Squad.
Jazzara Jaslyn plays Miss Valentine

Miss Valentine is a Baroque Works agent who works alongside Mr. 5. Her Devil Fruit power, the Kilo Kilo no Mi, lets her dramatically change her weight, ranging from just 1 kilogram to a massive 10,000 kilograms.
You might recognize Jazzara Jaslyn from her roles in popular TV shows. She played Eliza Pendleton in HBO’s Warrior, and has also appeared in Professionals and Lioness.
Anton David Jeftha plays K.M.

K.M., also known as Miss Valentine, is an agent of Baroque Works who works with Mr. 5. Her Devil Fruit, the Kilo Kilo no Mi, allows her to drastically change her weight, ranging from just 1 kilogram to a massive 10,000 kilograms.
Many people recognize David Jeftha from her roles in popular TV shows. She played Eliza Pendleton in HBO’s Warrior, and has also appeared in Professionals and Lioness.
One Piece season 2 and 3 cast: Who are the returning characters?
Iñaki Godoy plays Monkey D Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. He ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi fruit, which turned his body into rubber, allowing him to stretch and bounce like one. Even though he’s still young, Luffy’s strong will and positive attitude are what inspire people to join his crew.
You might recognize Iñaki Godoy from his previous work! Before landing the role in One Piece, he appeared in shows like La querida del Centauro and Who Killed Sara?, and also had parts in MexZombies and The Imperfects.
Emily Rudd plays Nami

Nami is the Straw Hat Pirates’ navigator and was the second member to join the crew. She used to be part of the Arlong Pirates, but she teamed up with Luffy and the others to defeat Arlong and became their skilled navigator. While Luffy and Zoro want to be the best at what they do, Nami has a different dream: she wants to create a complete map of the entire world.
You might recognize Iñaki Godoy from his roles in movies like Moonshot and Hunters, or from the TV series Fear Street: 1978, where he acted alongside Sadie Sink.
Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro is a highly skilled swordsman and a member of the Straw Hat Pirates. Originally a bounty hunter, he became a pirate after Luffy rescued him from being executed, and then joined Luffy’s crew.
Okay, so you’re wondering where you recognize Mackenyu Arata? I totally get it! Before he blew us all away as Luffy in One Piece, a lot of fans first noticed him in Pacific Rim: Uprising – he played Cadet Ryoichi. But that’s not all! He’s actually been building up a really cool filmography with live-action anime, including a role in Tokyo Ghoul: ‘S’. He’s been popping up in some great stuff for a while now!
Jacob Romero Gibson plays Usopp

Usopp is the Straw Hat Pirates’ skilled sniper, easily recognized by his slingshot. He’s known as one of the most humorous characters in the series thanks to his silliness and tendency to be a bit of a coward. Interestingly, the creators originally considered making him the vice-captain of the crew.
You might recognize Jacob Romero Gibson from his roles in shows like Grey’s Anatomy, All Rise, and Rap Sh!t. He’s a newer face in television, but he’s quickly gaining recognition.
Taz Skylar plays Sanji

Sanji is the Straw Hat Pirates’ incredibly skilled and flamboyant cook. Interestingly, he’s secretly a former prince – a member of the Vinsmoke family and originally from the Germa Kingdom.
While most of the crew are chasing fame and riches, Sanji has a different goal: finding the ‘All Blue’. Legend says it’s a place where all four seas come together, home to the most unique and rare creatures – a chef’s dream come true.
Many viewers are wondering where they recognize Taz Skylar from. He’s appeared in several projects, including The Lazarus Project, Boiling Point, and The Kill Team. He also starred in Villain alongside Craig Fairbrass, making their current collaboration a welcome reunion.
Aidan Scott plays Helmeppo

Helmeppo is the irritating son of Captain Morgan. He frequently abuses his father’s authority to boss others around. Surprisingly, many One Piece fans enjoy his scenes, especially in the earlier episodes of the anime, despite his unpleasant personality.
I recently wondered where I recognized the actor Aidan Scott from. Besides his roles in The Kissing Booth 2 and The Power, I found out he’s also been in The Fix and Action Point.
Jeff Ward plays Buggy

Buggy is the captain of the Buggy Pirates, and while he might not be as terrifying as some villains, he’s still a dangerous opponent. He has a special ability – he can break his body into separate parts thanks to a Devil Fruit he ate. He also has a very distinctive look.
Wondering where you recognize Jeff Ward from? He’s appeared in a few popular shows! Horror fans might know him from Brand New Cherry Flavor, while fans of Agents of Shield will recognize him as Deke Shaw.
Peter Gadiot plays Shanks

Shanks is a key character in One Piece. He greatly influenced Luffy, inspiring him to become a pirate and form his own crew. Shanks is the captain of the Red Hair Pirates.
I think most people will recognize Peter Gadiot from his role in the show Yellowjackets. He’s also been in other series, including Queen of the South and Matador.
Steven Ward plays Dracule Mihawk

Dracule Milhawk is a legendary figure in the world of One Piece, widely considered to be the greatest swordsman alive. He used to be one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and he’s a major rival to Zoro, who views him as the final obstacle standing between himself and achieving his ambition.
You might recognize Steven Ward from his roles in shows like Vagrant Queen and Inconceivable, as well as the films Catch Me A Killer and Dinner to Die For.
Craig Fairbrass plays Chef Zeff

Chef Zeff is the chef and owner of Baratie, a restaurant that floats on the sea. He’s like a father to Sanji and encouraged him to pursue his dream of finding the All Blue, a legendary ocean.
You might recognize Craig Fairbrass from his work in action films, especially the Rise of the Footsoldier series, including Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance. He’s also appeared in popular TV shows like EastEnders, and films such as A Violent Man and Villain.
McKinley Belcher III plays Arlong

Arlong is the captain of the Arlong Pirates. He’s a key figure in Nami’s backstory, as she was originally associated with his crew when we first meet her. If Buggy seemed strange, Arlong is even more unusual!
You might recognize McKinley Belcher III from roles in films like Marriage Story and Mapplethorpe. However, many viewers will know him best as Agent Trevor Evans from the show Ozark.
