Meet World Cup WAGs: Antonela Roccuzzo, Georgina Rodríguez and More

The WAGs of the 2026 World Cup are kicking things up a notch.

The soccer tournament began across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico on June 11th, and attention is focused not only on the players but also on their significant others – often called “WAGs.” While Victoria Beckham was once the most famous partner of a player, many new partners are now enjoying the limelight since David Beckham’s retirement.

Consider Antonela Roccuzzo, who is married to Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi. They grew up together in Argentina and were childhood sweethearts, officially becoming a couple in 2009. They married in 2017 and have three sons: Thiago (13), Mateo (10), and Ciro (8).

Throughout Messi’s incredible career, Antonela Roccuzzo has always been by his side, and he remains deeply in love with her.

In a 2019 interview with Marca, he described her as having many positive traits. He highlighted her resilience and cheerful attitude, noting she handles everyday challenges with grace and consistently approaches problems admirably. He also praised her intelligence and overall well-roundedness.

Any list of WAGs – wives and girlfriends of famous athletes – wouldn’t be complete without Georgina Rodríguez, who is engaged to Cristiano Ronaldo from the Portuguese national team. They first met in 2016 when Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid, and their relationship became public in January 2017.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez showed everyone what relationship goals look like in August when Ronaldo proposed with a stunning diamond ring. The couple are parents to twins, Eva Maria and Mateo, age 8, and daughters Alana, 7, and Bella, 3.

Rodríguez confirmed it on Instagram, writing, “In this life and all those to come.” The message was originally in Spanish.

Along with Romina Roccuzzo and Josefina Rodríguez, Bruna Biancardi, a Brazilian model and influencer who is dating soccer star Neymar, will be in attendance. The couple, who recently rekindled their relationship in 2024, are parents to two young daughters: Mavie, age 2, and Mel, 11 months old.

I’ve been following Isabel Haugseng Johansen’s story for a while now, and it’s so sweet! She and Erling Haaland actually go way back – they were childhood sweethearts, meeting while playing in the same youth soccer academy. It’s amazing to see how their relationship has grown, and she’s been so supportive of him, even moving with him to England when he joined Manchester City. They recently welcomed a little boy in December 2024, and I couldn’t be happier for them both!
