Okay, so Megyn Kelly definitely isn’t shy about sharing her opinions, but even I was shocked by her recent revelation. She basically named a whole bunch of celebrities she’s interviewed who were, let’s just say, not thrilled to be there. It was a really mixed bag – huge movie stars alongside people you’d genuinely expect to be positive, like Al Roker! Honestly, Roker’s name was a total surprise, but apparently, they’ve had some history. It was a pretty wild list, and I’m still processing it.

Kelly recently shared some unpleasant experiences she’s had with fellow celebrities in an interview with The Daily Mail. She specifically mentioned a difficult interaction with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford while they were promoting their film, Our Souls at Night. According to Kelly, Redford wouldn’t discuss their intimate scenes, while Fonda was eager to talk about them, which created an awkward situation.

Honestly, he really avoids talking about those films. I tried to change the subject whenever they came up, it just clearly made him uneasy. But she was actually upset with me for not letting her bring them up! She was really keen to dissect all the sex scenes, which was… surprising, to say the least.

Jane Fonda and Robert Redford are both iconic figures in Hollywood, but Fonda shared that they weren’t the only famous actors who challenged her while she was on set. Bruce Willis has stepped back from acting and largely stayed out of the public eye since his diagnosis with aphasia. His wife, Emma Heming Willis, has become a strong advocate for aphasia research and has openly discussed the difficulties and unexpected positives that have come with Willis’ condition.

Despite being a huge star at his peak, Bruce Willis reportedly wasn’t always the most pleasant person to work with. Megyn Kelly recalled that he agreed to appear on Fox News even though his political views differed from many of the network’s hosts, and she described the experience as uncomfortable. According to Kelly:

It was obvious he didn’t want to be there. While everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, it seemed odd that he agreed to participate if he was so unhappy about it.

Interestingly, despite Kelly mentioning many people who she felt were negative towards her, I didn’t expect to hear a fellow broadcaster among them.

Al Roker is a beloved figure in American television, famous for his friendly and approachable personality on NBC’s Today. He recently faced a health challenge that kept him off the air, but he remained optimistic throughout. He generally appears cheerful on camera. Kelly didn’t want to go into detail about Al’s health issues, but she explained them in a way that most people could easily understand.

If my mother ever met Al Roker, she’d probably have a hilariously awkward and confrontational encounter, similar to Larry David running into Alan Dershowitz at Martha’s Vineyard.

It appears Kelly felt Al Roker wasn’t very welcoming to her, as suggested by her comparison of a meeting between conservative Alan Dershowitz and liberal Larry David.

Following criticism for defending blackface as acceptable in Halloween costumes, Al Roker publicly criticized Ms. Kelly. She subsequently departed from NBC to pursue independent work.

From my observations, celebrities are unpredictable – some are consistently kind, while others aren’t. Many seem to have good days and bad days, just like everyone else. I’ve seen stars who were lovely during one project become difficult on another. It’s hard to know if someone’s experiences with a celebrity changed over time, or if they even interacted with them more than once. We’ve all had conversations that didn’t go as expected, but a journalist dealing with celebrities daily is bound to have more interesting stories.
