Melanie Griffith Reacts to Daughter Dakota Johnson’s Calvin Klein Ad

Melanie Griffith was quickly happy to talk about how she feels regarding her daughter Dakota Johnson’s latest acting job.

I was so thrilled to see Rooney Mara’s new Calvin Klein campaign – she looked incredible! And it was such a sweet moment when she gave flowers to her daughter afterward. It felt like a really proud mom moment, and honestly, it warmed my heart to see it.

Melanie commented on Dakota’s Instagram post from March 8th, writing “Isn’t she lovely?” She also called Dakota her “beautiful Coqui” and mentioned she was wearing Calvin Klein underwear.

I was honestly shocked, but also impressed, when I saw Dakota, who’s 36, doing a commercial for their new denim and lingerie line. She went topless, wearing just her jeans, and it was a really bold move! It definitely got my attention and showcased the collection in a memorable way.

The commercial, directed and filmed by Gordon von Steiner, features Dakota Johnson relaxing on a couch and reading a script. It then shows her playing pool alone, wearing only the brand’s underwear and high heels.

I was completely captivated by the new campaign! It starts with Dakota relaxing by a gorgeous pool, totally lost in her book. Then, things get playful – she’s dancing around on the bed in some comfy blue jeans. She’s so confident and free-spirited! To playfully cover up, she used her hair – it was a really natural and artistic moment. And then, the ad takes this amazing turn into the kitchen. She uses pomegranates, a pitcher, and even a coffee cup to artfully cover her chest. It’s such a bold and creative concept – I can’t stop thinking about it!

As a long-time fan, I’ve always felt there’s something special about Calvin Klein. It’s more than just clothes; it’s a feeling. The jeans and underwear, especially, just fit right when you put them on – they’re truly timeless. I love how the brand seems to understand that even when you’re just relaxing at home, reading or working, you can feel really good and confident. This collaboration perfectly captures that feeling of freedom and sensuality, and it feels both modern and classic at the same time. It’s a really unique combination, and I think that’s what makes it so special.

Melanie, who has three children – Dakota with her former partner Don Johnson, Alexander (40) with Steven Bauer, and Stella (29) with Antonio Banderas – recently complimented the Madame Web actress’s simple approach to publicity. However, she’s also mentioned that she does have boundaries when it comes to these things.

You definitely won’t find the actress from Something Wild in the audience at her daughter’s performances in the Fifty Shades movies.

At a 2015 Grammys party hosted by Clive Davis, the 68-year-old made a shocking statement to reporters, asking, “Would you want to see your child having sex like that?” He clarified that while he couldn’t watch regular sexual activity, he definitely couldn’t tolerate seeing what he described as ‘room of pain’ sex.

Melanie was thrilled for her daughter when she got the role of Anastasia Steele in the movie based on the book, but she understands she needs to support her from a distance.

She said it would be awkward for both of us if I knew about it, so it’s something we’d never discuss. She wondered why I would even need to know, asking if I understood what she meant.
