Melissa Roxburgh has shared whether she intends to reprise her role on Tracker, now that Jensen Ackles has returned to the CBS series.
I’m really excited to see Justin Hartley back as a series regular! It’s been a while since This Is Us ended in 2022 after six amazing seasons. He’s playing Colter Shaw in Tracker, and it’s cool to see his on-screen family with Jared Padalecki as his brother, Russell, and sadly, while Bellamy Young played his sister, Dory, in a couple of episodes, it doesn’t look like she’ll be back anytime soon.
The actor recently told ScreenRant that they’d love to reprise their role on Tracker. They described the character, Dory, as enjoyable to play and expressed appreciation for the relationships between the Shaw siblings.
She’s hoping the show’s creators will find a way to bring her character back. Roxburgh even said she plans to talk to Hartley, who’s also a producer on Tracker, to find out what’s next for Dory, as she’s currently unsure where the story is headed.
I’d really love to return to the show if the opportunity arises. I’m not sure what the writers have planned for the characters, but playing Dory is a lot of fun, and I think exploring the relationship between the siblings could be really compelling. I’m hoping it happens, and I’ll check with Justin about it.
In addition to Hartley, the show Tracker stars Robin Weingert, Abby McEnany, Eric Graise, and Fiona Rene. Roxburgh and Ackles first appeared in episodes that aired one after another in May 2024. Colter contacted Dory, a university professor, when he started looking into the case of a missing student from her school.
The next week, Russell asked Colter for help finding a missing friend who had served with him in the military. Their meeting was strained, as the two brothers hadn’t been speaking. Jared Padalecki returned for three more episodes, including the premiere of Tracker season 3.
Roxburgh briefly appeared in season two when Dory gave Colter a box of their father’s belongings. While going through the box, Colter found a disconnected phone number. But the season finale revealed a shocking truth: his mother was responsible for his father’s death.
Roxburgh is now focusing more on her role as an FBI agent in the NBC drama The Hunting Party, which premiered in 2025. This means she has less time available for her work on the CBS series Tracker, as she began appearing on The Hunting Party several months after first being on Tracker.
Following her role on the show Manifest (2018-2023), Roxburgh appeared in an episode of Quantum Leap. She then had a guest role on Tracker before becoming a main cast member on The Hunting Party.
Although she’s currently busy with her NBC show, many viewers are hoping to see Dory return to Tracker somehow. There aren’t any immediate plans for her to reappear, but the show’s creators could potentially write a story arc that allows her to make guest appearances without interfering with her role on The Hunting Party.
You can watch The Hunting Party on NBC Thursdays at 10 p.m. Eastern, and the third season of Tracker premieres Sunday, March 1st, at 9 p.m. Eastern on CBS.
