What happens in the Mercy trailer?
The video depicts a future where an AI acts as a judge, deciding the guilt or innocence of criminals. The story centers on a man, played by Pratt, who is accused of his wife’s murder. He has limited time to prove his innocence to this highly intelligent AI, which will give him the tools to find the necessary evidence. If he fails, he will be executed. The trailer also reveals a surprising twist: he was one of the creators of this AI justice system.
Timur Bekmambetov, who directed ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ is directing ‘Mercy,’ written by Marco van Belle. This is a new project for Bekmambetov and actor Pratt, who previously worked together on the 2008 action film ‘Wanted.’ The movie will also star Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Rafi Gavron, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, and Kylie Rogers. Timur Bekmambetov, Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, and Majd Nassif are producing, while Mark Moran and Todd Williams are executive producers.
A detective finds himself on trial for his wife’s murder and has just 90 minutes to convince the powerful A.I. Judge he helped create that he’s innocent—or face execution, according to the official description. The A.I., played by Ferguson, will decide his fate.
