Meryl Streep Has Hilarious Response on Aging After Devil Wears Prada

Meryl Streep thinks Miranda Priestly’s aging is moving at a glacial pace.

Twenty years after creating the character of Miranda Priestly, the powerful editor-in-chief of Runway magazine in The Devil Wears Prada, the actress who won three Oscars thinks audiences will enjoy the upcoming sequel.

Meryl Streep joked with TopMob News Creator Cam host Erin Lim Rhodes at the film’s New York premiere on April 20th that the most surprising thing about seeing her character, Miranda, after 20 years is simply how young she appears.

Putting the fun aside, the 76-year-old actress, wearing a red leather dress by Givenchy, thanked fans for the excitement that reunited her with Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt for The Devil Wears Prada 2, which hits theaters on May 1st.

She explained that audiences immediately showed them what the film was all about. They already knew it was good and enjoyable, but what really set it apart was its lasting impact – it continued to resonate with people for decades after its release.

Meryl Streep was interested in revisiting the role of Miranda because she’s observed how much fashion magazines have changed over time.

I was drawn to the business side of things,” the Mamma Mia! star told Vogue in a recent interview. “It’s about being responsible for a lot of people’s livelihoods, leading a large company, and finding a way to keep it all afloat.”

I remember thinking, ‘Where will they turn to now?’ With everything falling apart and these established systems being weakened or completely destroyed – it’s hard to know what’s happening in the world. I believe they’ve finally found a solid path forward for their work, though.

Meryl Streep also took inspiration from Anna Wintour, the long-time editor-in-chief of Vogue, who is widely believed to be the basis for the character Miranda.

I really did try to understand Anna, to put myself in her shoes and imagine the weight of her responsibilities. I also considered how engaged with the world and naturally curious she must be. I believe that’s what it means to truly live: constantly seeking new experiences and pushing boundaries.

And as Meryl put it, “We’re not done yet.”

Oh my gosh, Meryl’s Givenchy outfit wasn’t even the only incredible thing she’s worn promoting Devil Wears Prada 2! I’ve been following every event, and seriously, you HAVE to see what she, Anne, and the whole cast have been wearing. I’m completely obsessed with their fashion choices!

As a huge fan, I was absolutely thrilled to see Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep start promoting Devil Wears Prada 2! They began with a press conference held at the incredibly beautiful La Casa Azul, Frida Kahlo’s home, and they both looked stunning in matching black and white suits. It was a truly unforgettable moment!

Anne Hathaway, known for The Princess Diaries, wore a black Schiaparelli outfit to the event on March 30th. Meanwhile, the Oscar-winning actress chose a vibrant red suit by Dolce & Gabbana.

Gird your loins because the Mamma Mia! star swapped out her red look for a stunning navy blue Schiaparelli number at the Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere at the Anahuacalli Museum later that day.

Meryl made a striking impression at the Japan premiere on April 6th, wearing a unique red and white Chanel suit with a black fringe detail.

Everyone was eager to get a glimpse of the stars from “The Devil Wears Prada” at a press event in South Korea on April 8th.

Meryl wore a striking red Prada suit with a belted waist and a double-breasted jacket. Anne chose a more edgy look with black leather pants and a white top that showed off her shoulders.

At the Times Square premiere, the two actresses turned heads with their fashion choices. Anne wore a striking red Balenciaga dress with a dramatic, oversized bomber jacket and a sleek skirt. Meryl, meanwhile, chose a sophisticated all-black Celine suit and sunglasses.

Meryl attended the premiere on April 10th wearing a sleek, satin midi dress by YSL. The dress was a striking blue with a high collar and a black sash at the waist. She accessorized with YSL sunglasses, a beautiful Cindy Chao brooch, and Alexandre Birman heels to complete her look.

Anne made a stunning entrance in a dreamy, strapless gown by Susan Fang, featuring delicate pink and blue ruffles.

On April 16th, Meryl was seen in New York City wearing a pinstripe suit and prescription sunglasses from Saint Laurent, purchased at MyEyeDr.
