The studio behind the game *Metal: Hellsinger*, The Outsiders, is shutting down. This follows recent layoffs at its parent company, Funcom, according to studio founder and creative director David Goldfarb in a post on Bluesky.
Here is the message from Goldfarb in full:
Friends,
It’s been difficult to take in the recent news, but everyone at The Outsiders and Funcom Stockholm is deeply affected by the layoffs at Funcom. Sadly, our studio, which has been around for ten years, will be closing. This team previously overcame a major challenge when our game, *Darkborn*, was cancelled, and through their dedication, we were able to create *Metal: Hellsinger*. That game remains a highlight of my career, and I’m incredibly thankful for the amazing team and partners who helped us bring it to life.
We had hoped to do something even better this time—.

We’re not giving up and are planning to move forward in a new way. If you have any ideas, connections, or advice that could help – whether it’s potential business opportunities, job leads, or just guidance – please reach out. We know change is difficult, and everyone is feeling the impact right now.
Thanks so much.
