Michael B. Jordan is enjoying a celebratory time with nominations for both his film, Sinners, and exciting news for fans of Fourth Wing. While discussing the historic Oscar nods for Sinners, Jordan was also asked about the upcoming Fourth Wing TV adaptation, which his production company is working on. This led to a fantastic announcement that’s sure to please book fans like me!
Fans are eagerly awaiting news about the Fourth Wing TV series, but updates have been infrequent. Casting for Violet and Xaden remains unknown, despite plenty of fan suggestions, and demand for information about the show – based on the bestselling book series – is high. Michael B. Jordan, whose Outlier Society is producing the adaptation, recently addressed the project during an interview with Deadline, stating:
We’re working hard to make this show amazing – giving fans everything they hope for, along with some surprises. We understand how much people love this franchise, and we’re dedicated to creating something special. It’s still in the early stages of development, but we’re confident it will be worth the wait.
As a big fan of the books, I’m really excited about this! Jordan didn’t share any major new details, but just knowing he’s confirmed progress is great. Similar to the occasional updates we get from Rebecca Yarros, his comment confirms the show is still being made, and thankfully, they’re taking their time with it.
Look, I’m really eager to get to Basgiath, but honestly, the show itself has to be amazing. I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to movies and TV, so I’m happy to be patient and wait until everything is just right. Quality is key for me, and I’d rather wait than settle for something mediocre.
I also really appreciate Michael B. Jordan’s comments, especially knowing how much he understands the passionate fanbase for this project. There’s a lot riding on the Fourth Wing adaptation because the books are so popular, so it’s great to hear the actor and producer say they’re approaching it with careful attention to detail – that definitely got me excited!
What also pleased me about the actor’s comment was their idea of adding unexpected elements. While I’m excited to see moments from Fourth Wing brought to life on screen, I also appreciate adaptations that thoughtfully make changes and surprise even the most dedicated book fans.

Fourth Wing (Wing and Claw Collection) (The Empyrean, 1) for $19.66 on Amazon.
Fourth Wing is the first novel in Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean series, with Iron Flame and Onyx Storm following as the subsequent books. See the deal here.
We don’t have many details about this show yet, but we know Meredith Averill – known for her work on shows like Wednesday, The Good Wife, and Jane the Virgin – will be leading it as showrunner, which is great news!
I really admire how much Michael B. Jordan understands and respects the excitement around Fourth Wing. As a big fan, I’m glad the show is being approached with such care. I’m hoping to see a thoughtful and faithful adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’s world, and it looks like Jordan and his team are aiming for just that.
