Michael B. Jordan shared exciting news about his upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, saying filming is going smoothly and is expected to finish by the end of the month. The movie also features a talented cast including Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.

Jordan offered the update on the film in a chat with Vanity Fair, in which he revealed:

It’s been a challenging journey, but seeing things I’ve dreamed about for ten years finally come true, with a fantastic cast, is incredibly rewarding. I truly feel like I’m living a dream.

This new The Thomas Crown Affair is expected to be released in 2027.

What Can Fans Expect in the New ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’?

MGM Studios

The original The Thomas Crown Affair, released in 1968, featured Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway and was directed by Norman Jewison. The film centers around an investigator (Dunaway) trying to catch the person responsible for a series of daring robberies. She suspects Thomas Crown (McQueen), and they begin a passionate relationship, leaving her struggling to choose between her duty to arrest him and her growing feelings for the charming thief.

When the film first came out, Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway’s on-screen chemistry was the most memorable part, even though the plot was fairly standard and sensational. A remake in 1999, with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo taking on the roles made famous by McQueen and Dunaway, also received generally positive reviews, mainly because of the strong connection between its lead actors.

Few details about Jordan’s vision for the movie have been revealed. The script is being written by Drew Pearce, known for his work on Iron Man 3 and The Fall Guy. Originally, Taylor Russell (Bones and All) was set to star, but she left the project due to disagreements about the creative direction. While the specific reasons for her departure remain unknown, Russell is still involved in promising films, including a remake of Single White Female with Jenna Ortega.

Michael B. Jordan first mentioned wanting to remake The Thomas Crown Affair in 2016, and the project has faced several challenges since then. In 2023, he also directed Creed III, marking his debut as a director.
