Jessa Duggar is on six kids and counting.
In a sneak peek for her future video blog, the former star of “19 Kids and Counting” hinted at the arrival of her sixth child with spouse Ben Seewald—and her mother Michelle Duggar was there to support her throughout the delivery process.
In a recent moment, I found myself meandering through my beloved parents’ Arkansas residence, hoping each step would ignite the beginning of labor.
In her August 3 YouTube video, she mentioned experiencing contractions approximately every three to five minutes. Later on, from the couch, she announced that her water had broken.
Subsequently, in a video captured at the hospital, the family’s leader was found kneeling beside her daughter during childbirth, with her midwife providing support from the opposite side of the hospital bed.
Five months after Jessa and Ben announced that they were expecting another child, we get a glimpse into the birth of this new arrival. Their existing children are Spurgeon (9 years old), Henry (8), Ivy (5), Fern (3), and George (19 months).
On March 7, she posted several ultrasound images on Instagram, and at that point, she expressed, “We’re halfway towards holding you!
However, not much time passed before the news ignited a wave of criticism on the internet. This led the ex-TLC personality to justify their choice to expand their family significantly.
In the video uploaded on May 8th, Jessa stated, ” frankly, I’ve encountered quite a few harsh and unwarranted remarks, such as ‘You’re reproducing like rabbits,’ or ‘You’re insane,’ or ‘Are you planning to match your mom with 19 children?’ Yet, I want to clarify that I won’t have 19 kids, but honestly, my mom is truly my role model.
Indeed, Jessa couldn’t help but express her admiration for Michelle, a woman who is mother to 19 children with Jim Bob Duggar. Michelle has had a profound impact on various aspects of Jessa’s life.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, allow me to express my heartfelt sentiments: I hold her in deep affection, admiration even. She serves as an extraordinary model for me in numerous aspects. Her unwavering patience, boundless love, soft-spoken grace, and kind words are truly inspiring. In my humble opinion, she embodies the epitome of a mother. Therefore, when others ask, “Do you aspire to be like your mother?” I can only respond with a fervent prayer, “May the heavens grant me the ability to emulate her.
Indeed, as per Jinger Duggar, who is Jessa’s younger sibling, the matriarch makes every effort to attend each of her daughters’ births.
In a conversation on their “Jinger & Jeremy” podcast, Jinger pointed out that her mother has been present at almost every birth in the family, having attended all but two so far. This includes her own children Felicity, Evangeline, and Finnigan, with husband Jeremy Vuolo. What’s astonishing to think about is that Finnigan is the 37th grandchild for Jinger’s parents, a mind-boggling number!
Although Jinger and Jeremy reside in Los Angeles, far from their home, the 58-year-old promptly undertook the journey to be present for little Finn’s homecoming in March.
Jeremy mentioned that his mother-in-law arrived a week earlier and stayed for 10 days afterwards. He stressed her dedication, saying “She truly comes to help.” In the mornings, it’s as if she effortlessly takes over all responsibilities. She even wakes up before everyone else. It’s quite thoughtful of her, he added.

Originally a pair of high school sweethearts, these two eventually became the parents of nineteen children and grandparents to more than thirty offspring.
Michelle recounted her experience of being “rescued” at the age of 15. One evening, Jim Bob was conducting home visits for his Baptist church, and upon a suggestion from a friend, he approached the Ruark family’s house. The friend had mentioned that “a girl from school who recently found faith and is a cheerleader” resided there.
They extended an invitation to Michelle to attend Sunday school at their church, and Jim Bob mentioned that he had prayed to God for them to serve as each other’s spiritual guides – though it seems that their initial encounter didn’t leave a lasting impression on Michelle. About a year later, she applied for a job at the yogurt shop owned by Jim Bob’s parents. In a letter posted on their family blog in 2017 for Jim Bob’s birthday and their 33rd wedding anniversary, Michelle recalled, “You approached the counter where I was standing near the cash register and introduced yourself. You were timid but very kind! I don’t recall much about that conversation, except that you eventually gathered the nerve to ask me if I would accompany you to your junior-senior banquet!
In an unexpected turn of events, our shared passion for faith led us to spend countless hours delving into the Scriptures at my parents’ home after a dinner together at Shiloh Christian. It was during those heartfelt conversations that I felt an undeniable connection with Jim Bob. As we walked through life hand in hand, we discovered that our hearts were truly intertwined. We completed high school in May of 1984 and exchanged vows just a few short months later in July, with me being 17 and Jim Bob being 19.
The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob previously held the position of a state legislator, representing Arkansas’s sixth district in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. During his tenure, he served as vice chair of the Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. His attempt to secure a U.S. Senate seat in 2002 was unsuccessful in the primary elections. Similarly, his bid for the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35 in 2006 did not yield success.
They, along with Michelle, who are real estate professionals, have been engaged in conservative movements – a facet of their lives that earned them admiration and criticism, including from the fanbase of “19 Kids and Counting” (originally titled “17 Kids and Counting,” which debuted in 2008). They were both supporters and vocal critics of the show.
As of October 2024, they were grandparents of 33 with three on the way.
The eldest member of the Duggar family, Josh Duggar, was born on March 3, 1988. Similarly, he also took up activism from a conservative perspective, advocating for organizations such as the Family Research Council.
In 2015, police records from the past emerged, indicating that he had been accused of molesting multiple girls, including his sisters Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar, when he was a teenager. Later in June, Jessa spoke out about this on Fox News, asserting that the harsh accusations against her brother were “excessive and untrue, really. People get angry with me for saying this, but I can say it because I was one of the victims.
His wife, Anna Duggar, who tied the knot with him during their September 26, 2008 wedding that was shown on “19 Kids and Counting,” remained loyal to him even following his confession of infidelity.
When he admitted himself to a rehabilitation facility in 2016, they considered it a vital initial move towards recovery and restoration.
The parents of Mackynzie (born October 8, 2009), Michael (June 15, 2011), and Marcus (June 2, 2013) were expecting their fourth child, Meredith, when a scandal occurred. On July 16, 2015, which was also the day TLC canceled “19 Kids,” Meredith was born. Their fifth child, Mason Garett, arrived on September 12, 2017, Maryella Hope joined the family on November 27, 2019, and the seventh baby, Madyson Lily, came into their lives on October 23, 2021.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some unfortunate news about an individual named Josh. Back in April 2021, he faced two charges related to child pornography – one for receipt and another for possession. However, he denied any wrongdoing on both counts.
The following year, a court found him guilty of both charges. Yet, the judge later vacated the possession charge. As a result, Josh was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for the receipt charge. This is a sobering reminder of the seriousness of such offenses and the importance of upholding the law.
Not long after Josh’s birth, Michelle became pregnant once more, however, she experienced a miscarriage. As they were still mourning this loss and seeking advice, they learned that they were expecting twins.
She said it was a special gift, a twice-blessed event,” she told Love to Know. “It seemed like God was giving us extra support during this learning phase. It’s quite uncommon because I breastfeed my children and they’re so close in age – I had one baby and then another just eight months later. It seems the Lord has arranged something unique for our circumstances.
John David Duggar and his twin sister Jana Duggar were born on Jan. 12, 1990.
Following a prolonged period of mutual acquaintance (they had known each other for several years before their encounter at a church gathering in Abbie’s home state, Oklahoma), and a swift engagement, John David and Abbie-Grace Burnett tied the knot on November 3, 2018.
On January 7, 2020, they welcomed their daughter Grace Annette Duggar into the world, and their son Charlie Duggar joined them in September 2022.
On their 30th birthday in January 2020, Jan wrote a heartfelt message: “Ever since John and I were children, people have wondered if we share an unusual connection – the kind where you sense what the other person is feeling or thinking…Well, John, I used to say no to that question, but when our daughter Gracie was born, I felt all the joy you did. So, maybe there really is something special between us!
Jana went on to say, “It’s just delightful observing you and Abbie in your parental roles! You both seem so natural at it! The very traits that make you such a fantastic brother will undoubtedly make you an exceptional father.
Jana looked on as eleven out of her total eighteen siblings tied the knot before she encountered love with Stephen Wissmann, whose sister Hannah is wed to Jeremiah Duggar’s brother. Although there were moments of exasperation, she believed it was all part of a divine design orchestrated by God.
In August 2024, just before her wedding, Jana shared with People that she hasn’t always grasped the overall plan, but she trusts that God knows what is ultimately beneficial for everyone. Consequently, she decided to get married later in life. She expressed that each person’s narrative unfolds uniquely, and if we were all identical, life would be monotonous.
Jill Duggar, also known as Jill Dillard, was born on the 17th of May in 1991. In a romantic tale akin to her parents’, Jill crossed paths with Derick, who lived approximately 45 minutes away, for the first time during Christmas 2011. This encounter took place when Derick dropped by the Duggar residence while out caroling with his church group.
Jim Bob acted as a cupid, facilitating the relationship between Jill and Derick. Through emails and video calls, they grew fond of each other. In November, they met in person when Father and daughter traveled to Nepal to visit Derick. Their bond deepened further, and by February 2014, Derick proposed to Jill with Jim Bob’s approval. They got married on June 21, 2014, and have since welcomed three sons: Israel (born April 6, 2015), Samuel (born July 8, 2017), and Frederick (born July 7, 2022).
In the month of April 2024, Jill disclosed that they had experienced a miscarriage when anticipating their first daughter with Derick.
In the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets“, which debuted in June 2023, Jill and Derick pondered over the debated religious aspects and family controversies associated with her kin.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child, Jessa Duggar, was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa got acquainted with Ben at church, and he started pursuing her romantically in 2013 – a traditional way of falling in love that was quite novel for many spectators. The couple kept their romantic lives private before getting engaged, so Jim Bob clarified to People, “Courting involves getting to know each other in a group setting, with both families spending time together and the couple establishing shared goals to determine if they are suitable for marriage. Dating often means couples spending time alone, which can sometimes lead to a more intimate relationship.
In August 2014, Ben asked for Jessa’s hand in marriage and proposed. They sealed their union by holding hands for the first time, and they officially tied the knot on November 1, 2014. At the time, Jessa was pregnant with their first child. The cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting occurred while she was expecting, and TLC aired a special about sexual abuse, with Jill and Jessa as key figures, to educate viewers on the topic. Later that winter, they became the main stars of their own show, titled Jill and Jessa: Counting On. Over time, this series evolved to include other Duggar siblings, ultimately becoming known as Counting On instead.
Over the course of these years, Jessa and Ben had four children: Spurgeon (born Nov. 5, 2015), Henry (Feb. 6, 2017), Ivy Jane (May 28, 2019), and Fern (July 2021). Unfortunately, Jessa experienced a miscarriage during the 2022 holiday season. However, she gave birth to a son named George in December 2023.
On May 7, 2025, Jessa announced baby No. 6 is on the way.
The sixth Duggar child, Jinger Vuolo, was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first met while performing ministry work in Laredo, Texas, and began dating in 2016. They tied the knot on November 5th, 2016, which also happened to be Spurgeon’s birthday, one of nineteen in their family. Almost immediately after their wedding, people started speculating about a possible pregnancy for the couple.
A year from now, it’s likely that we’ll be comfortably settled, continuing our ministry right here in Laredo, and simply aiming to serve the Lord in whatever capacity we can, as Jinger expressed on a June 2017 episode of Counting On.
2018 saw the arrival of their little treasure, Felicity, on July 19th. Back in May of that same year, they shared the news that Jinger was expecting again—unfortunately, she had experienced a miscarriage the previous autumn. Fast forward to November 2020, and Evangeline Jo entered our world with a warm welcome.
Son Finnegan Charles was born March 29, 2025.
On January 20, 1995, Joseph Duggar was born. He made use of the picturesque backdrop provided by his sister Joy-Anna’s wedding in May 2017 to propose to Kendra, whom he had known through church, after a brief courtship of just a few months.
Joseph admitted to People magazine that he was certainly anxious before proposing, but he wasn’t worried she would refuse because she had told him, ‘I’m just waiting for you!'” Kendra said, overwhelmed with happiness and astonishment. She continued, “I have so many things I want to express, but all I can say is shocked.
Since then, they’ve revealed the arrivals of their son Garrett (born in June 2018), their daughter Addison (born in November 2019), and their other daughter Brooklyn (born in February 2021).
Eighth in line, Josiah Duggar was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
A few months into their public relationship, they made an announcement in March 2018 that they were getting engaged. He shared in a statement that the location where he popped the question to Lauren was the very same spot where her parents got engaged. This property holds a great deal of family history, making it a particularly meaningful and special place for Lauren.
In a video shared on their blog, Michelle (the future mother-in-law) expressed her affection for Lauren, saying, “Lauren is truly a treasure.” Jessa and Ben added their congratulations, along with chocolate shaped like X’s and O’s. Michelle playfully suggested, “I think you two might be planning to save your first kiss for the wedding day, but if you visit us here, we have a sweet treat waiting!” She gestured to the enticing reward.
Josiah and Marjorie Jackson had a relationship previously, but it ended during summer 2015. As he shared with People magazine in March 2016, they enjoyed their time together and were trying to follow God’s guidance. However, she felt it wasn’t the right moment, so they took a break from each other for some time.
On June 30, 2018, they officially got married, and they told People that their wedding day was simply perfect. Their first daughter, Bella Milagro, was born on November 8, 2019, a name meaning “miracle baby.” This was significant as the couple had previously experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. In 2022, they welcomed another daughter named Daisy, and their son Ezra joined the family in May 2023.
Ninth sibling Joy-Anna Duggar was born Oct. 28, 1997.
She had been friends with Austin Forsyth for fifteen years before he began pursuing her. After this, their relationship moved swiftly – he proposed in February 2017, and they tied the knot on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas; it was the same church where Joseph proposed to Kendra.
Joy-Anna and Austin had a baby boy named Gideon Martin Forsyth on February 23, 2018, a daughter called Evelyn Mae Forsyth on August 21, 2020, and another son, Gunner James Forsyth, on May 17, 2023.
On December 30, 1998, Jim Bob and Michelle’s twin sons, Jed and Jeremiah Duggar, entered the world.
In the spring of 2021, Jed got married to Katey Nakatsu following a year of dating. They now have a son named Truett, who was born in May 2022, and a daughter named Nora Kate, who came into the world in June 2023.
Back in July 2024, the exhilarating news about Jed and Katey expecting twins had me buzzing with excitement! Fast-forward to January 2025, and my heart skipped a beat as I welcomed Elsie Kate, who joined our family first, followed by her adorable sister, Emma Kate. The joy they’ve brought into our lives is immeasurable!
Jeremiah, who is a qualified flight instructor, is married to Hannah Wissmann (the sister of Stephen, Jana’s husband). Together, they are the proud parents of daughter Brynley, born in December 2022, and daughter Brielle, born in February 2024.
They announced the arrival of their third daughter, Emery ‘Emy’ Jane Duggar, on May 18, 2025.
No. 12 Jason Duggar was born on April 21, 2000.
In January 2017, according to the Daily Mail, Jim Bob aided Jase in purchasing a $33,000 property in need of repair in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, approximately half an hour from the Duggar family’s main residence. Later on, he founded his own construction company.
In May 2024, he made their relationship public on Instagram with Maddie Grace, and they got married the very next October.
Charmed No. 13, James Duggar was born July 7, 2001.
He doesn’t have a public romantic relationship but is very loving towards many nieces and nephews as an affectionate uncle.
On his 19th birthday in 2019, mom Michelle described James as a “fun uncle” who is admired by all the younger boys nearby. They aspire to be like him. James seems to have the ability to accomplish almost anything he sets his mind to. As a child, we would often discover him tinkering with household appliances. He has always been one to disassemble things, understand their mechanisms, and reassemble them – sometimes with unique upgrades!
This year, James put in a lot of effort to earn his Commercial Driver’s License, and now he’s proficient at handling large trucks and complex machinery. We’re eagerly anticipating to witness what lies ahead for him as destined by fate!
No. 14 Justin Duggar arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
In September 2020, he made their relationship with Claire Spivey known to the public. They got engaged in November of the same year, and they tied the knot on February 26th, 2021.
In the company of his elder sibling Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifteenth offspring, Jackson Duggar, made his arrival on May 23, 2004.
When Jackson turned sixteen, his mother, Michelle, commended his wit and mentioned that she could tell he was eagerly anticipating getting his driver’s license.
Johanna Duggar came into this world on October 11, 2005, which coincidentally became the title for their initial family reality show, “16 Kids under One Roof” or simply “Moving In”.
Michelle wrote about her daughter on her 15th birthday in 2020: “She’s full of fun and sociable, always eager to meet new people. Her little sisters simply adore her, thinking she’s nothing short of a celestial body! I feel incredibly blessed by God for allowing me the honor of being her mother.
Jennifer Duggar arrived on Aug. 2, 2007, then the baby of the family.
Their TLC show that premiered Sept. 29, 2008, was christened 17 Kids and Counting.
Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Michelle penned, “Jennifer is reliable, devoted, and always brings laughter! At age 13, she’s adored by her nieces, nephews, who often tag along because they hate being put down. Moreover, Jennifer is a loving caretaker of animals, diligently tending to her pets every day. In a remarkable act, she recently assisted in rearing a brood of 7 little bunnies!
Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.
In 2019, her mother described Jordyn-Grace as a lively girl who can easily make friends with anyone, adding that her laughter is often one of the most uplifting moments of their day.
Josie Duggar, shown here cradling her niece Meredith, was born on December 10, 2009, three months early and tipping the scales at just 1 pound, 6 ounces. Consequently, she spent a significant six months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
On her baby’s eleventh birthday in 2020, Michelle described Josie as a whirlwind of activity. From sunrise to bedtime, it’s rare for her to take a break!
