Michelle Pfeiffer was a smooth rider into the newest phase of her life.
I was so thrilled to hear that Grease 2 star, who’s 67, recently became a grandmother! It’s completely changed things for her, and she’s now being more selective about the projects she takes on – and honestly, I totally get it. Being a grandparent is a huge joy, and it’s wonderful she’s prioritizing that time in her life.
“I’m too busy and don’t want to get that intensely involved for such a long period while feeling disconnected,” Michelle explained on the September 29th episode of the SmartLess podcast. “I’ve come to understand that my time is limited, and-I might be sharing this for the first time-I became a grandmother last year.”
The three-time Oscar nominee-who has children Claudia, 32, and John, 31, with her husband David E. Kelley-didn’t say which of her children had a baby, but she described the experience as “heaven. It’s ridiculous.” She also mentioned she hadn’t shared the news much.
Even though Michelle said she didn’t anticipate becoming a grandparent last year, she’s eager to embrace this new role above all others.
“Knowing I was going to become a grandmother, I wouldn’t have committed to so many jobs,” the Hairspray actress-who currently has four projects underway, according to IMDb-explained. “However, I’ve truly enjoyed everything, and I’m very thankful. I’m passionate about each of these projects.”
Becoming a grandma is a recent development for Michelle, but her family has always played a role in her career choices. She previously considered her children, Claudia and John, when selecting new film projects while they were growing up.
“I’m now experiencing life after my children have grown up and left home,” she shared with Interview magazine in 2017. “My passion for acting hasn’t faded at all. I genuinely feel comfortable and happy when I’m on a film set. To be honest, I feel more grounded and centered when I’m working. However, I was very mindful of filming locations and the length of time I’d be away, always trying to make it work with my children’s schedules.”
In fact, Michelle admitted, “I got so picky that I was unhirable.”
