Microsoft 365 prices are increasing soon, and UK users are being notified. Microsoft recently emailed some subscribers to let them know about the upcoming price change.
Microsoft has been planning this price increase for a while – I received an initial notification back in July, shortly after my subscription renewed in August. They’re now sending out reminders to ensure everyone is aware of the change.
This email likely goes to customers whose plans are up for renewal, as it mentions a price increase starting February 14, 2025.
The new price has been live for new subscribers for months on Microsoft’s website.
Here’s what the email says:
We appreciate you being a Microsoft 365 customer. To keep delivering valuable new features and address increasing costs, we’re updating the price of your subscription. This change reflects the improvements we’ve made over the last ten years.
Starting February 14, 2025, the annual price of a Microsoft 365 Family subscription will increase from £79.99* to £104.99*. If you want to continue your subscription, you don’t need to do anything—the new price will automatically be charged to your existing payment method. If you’d like to change your plan or cancel automatic payments, please visit your Microsoft account at least two days before your next billing date.
Keep enjoying the benefits of your subscription, including safe cloud storage, strong data and device security, and the latest AI features. Microsoft Copilot brings a new level of power to apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook, and with Designer, you can quickly create beautiful designs and edit photos. Thanks for being a Microsoft customer!
The company provided instructions for both canceling your Microsoft 365 subscription and changing to a different plan.
Microsoft 365 is generally cheaper in the US than it is in the UK. However, I’ve found a few ways to save a little money on it here.
You can essentially prepay for Microsoft 365 for up to five years by buying discounted subscription codes, letting you extend your access. If you plan on using Microsoft 365 for a while, it’s a good way to save money.

Canceling Microsoft 365
I’ve been paying for Microsoft’s subscription service – originally Office, now Microsoft 365 – for years, since they first started offering it this way. But the recent price increase is making me seriously think about switching to a different product.
I use Microsoft 365 every day, and I depend on programs like Word, Excel, and OneDrive for both work and personal tasks. However, with rising living costs and so many subscription services, I’m starting to feel overwhelmed by the expense.
I recently learned about Microsoft’s upcoming price increase and talked with my wife about how much we all rely on Microsoft 365. While I use it the most, I wanted to make sure changing our subscription wouldn’t disrupt anyone else’s work.
I have until February 14, 2026 – Microsoft’s rather cheeky Valentine’s Day price increase date – to make a decision. In the meantime, I’m going to explore options like iCloud storage, sticking to the web-based version of Office, and setting up a home server using a computer.
