Even though some reports suggest Microsoft‘s AI initiatives, like Copilot, aren’t gaining traction, it’s hard to ignore the company’s strong position in the generative AI space. Microsoft is heavily investing in AI and using its widespread Windows operating system to promote it. They’re even planning to transform Windows into a more intelligent, agent-based platform in the future.
Microsoft and OpenAI recently signed a new agreement that lets OpenAI develop artificial general intelligence (AGI) on its own or with other companies. At the same time, Microsoft created a team led by Mustafa Suleyman, focused on developing superintelligence with a focus on benefiting humanity. Suleyman has emphasized the importance of rapidly advancing AI, but ensuring it serves people rather than replacing them.
In a recent Bloomberg interview, Suleyman shared that he regularly connects with other leaders in the AI field. This includes frequent conversations with Sam Altman (OpenAI), Dario Amodei (Anthropic), and Demis Hassabis (Google DeepMind), with whom he previously co-founded DeepMind (according to Fortune).
The executive shared some insightful observations about the leadership styles of these individuals, among other topics. For example, Suleyman immediately described Sam Altman as “courageous,” likely because Altman continued to push forward even when OpenAI faced difficulties and rumors of bankruptcy.
The company behind ChatGPT is still working on cutting-edge AI technology. To support its growing popularity and improve performance, they’re constructing large data centers around the globe.
I’m seriously impressed with this guy – he really has the potential to be one of the most impactful entrepreneurs of our time. What he’s accomplishing is incredible. He’s building data centers faster than anyone else right now, and if he keeps this up, it’s going to be a game-changer.

OpenAI is facing questions from investors because it’s spending a lot of money developing advanced AI, but hasn’t yet figured out how to consistently make a profit. While the company reportedly earns as much as $13 billion annually from ChatGPT and access to its AI models, it also spends around $1.4 billion each year on computing power.
Despite concerns about OpenAI’s high spending, CEO Sam Altman recently stated he expects the company to reach up to $100 billion in revenue by 2027.

Mustafa Suleyman shared that despite now working for competing companies, he remains friends with DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, a friendship that began when they co-founded DeepMind. He recently texted Hassabis to congratulate him on the major achievements Google has had with projects like Nano Banana, Gemini 3, and AlphaFold.
Suleyman described him as a brilliant and versatile thinker, highlighting his significant and repeated contributions to the field, calling him truly exceptional.

Suleyman finished by talking about Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a billionaire. He described Musk as a “bulldozer,” suggesting that he…
He has an extraordinary ability to make things happen, almost like he can control reality. He consistently achieves remarkable results, often succeeding where others would fail.
He acknowledged that Elon Musk has a unique perspective and set of beliefs, but added that he appreciates Musk’s honesty and directness, saying he ‘speaks his mind’ and is ‘very unfiltered.’
