Microsoft appears to be experimenting with a fresh widgets panel for Windows 11, switching the MSN feed with a feature called Copilot Discover. This revamped design leverages AI technology to compile stories tailored to your preferences and prioritized by your interactions with Copilot, presenting them in an uncluttered layout that resembles but doesn’t duplicate the previous MSN feed.
Indeed, the revamped Copilot Discover feed seems noticeably quicker, featuring fewer choppy animations and smoother scrolling. Additionally, it’s significantly less cluttered, displaying stories in spacious, large-font boxes for easier reading. However, the stories themselves still redirect you to the MSN website; the update primarily focuses on enhancing the feed itself, rebranding it as Copilot Discover.
When you move your cursor over certain tales, various choices will appear such as rating the story positively or negatively according to your tastes, saving the story for future viewing, and either following or barring specific news sources. Additionally, stories containing videos will instantly play these videos once you hover over them.
At the top of your feed, you’ll find a fresh Notification button. This feature will keep you updated on various topics like breaking news, weather modifications, and market fluctuations in stocks. You have the flexibility to tailor these notifications as per your preference, allowing you to disable certain types of alerts if they’re not of interest to you.
Microsoft is currently experimenting with a function that enables you to read articles directly within the widget panel, without having to open them in your default web browser first. This helps provide a smoother, more streamlined user experience as it eliminates the need for multiple window transitions.

Interestingly, the updated design relocates your widgets to a distinct “Widgets” tab, positioned at the top-left corner of the interface. Except for the weather widget, all other widgets have been shifted out of the main feed and can now only be found in this new tab. Regrettably, you can no longer adjust the size or reposition the weather widget on the main page.
The panel has switched from being able to fill the entire screen, and instead, it’s been reduced to a slim, vertical slide-out located on the left side of your screen. It seems that this feature is currently undergoing initial testing, suggesting that additional functions and enhancements could still be added in the future.
It appears that Microsoft hasn’t publicly revealed the new Copilot Discover feed for the Windows 11 widgets panel yet. This might mean they are currently testing it among a limited group of users. If the response is favorable, we can expect to see this feature rolled out more widely in the upcoming weeks.
