Scammers are getting more sophisticated, and now use advanced tools like AI to trick people into falling for their schemes. They’re finding new ways to deceive unsuspecting users.
These days, it’s getting harder to distinguish between what’s genuine and what’s not. To help with this, Microsoft has introduced a new feature in Teams calls designed to detect potential fraud.
The “Brand Impersonation Protection” feature will scan incoming calls from numbers you don’t recognize to help prevent scammers from pretending to be your company. It will alert you to calls that seem risky or suspicious, according to BleepingComputer.
Microsoft plans to begin releasing the new security feature to its early access customers around the middle of next month. It will be automatically turned on for everyone.
Teams Calling now includes enhanced protection against scammers who pretend to be from trusted organizations. This feature proactively blocks fraudulent callers, reducing the risk of social engineering attacks and making your organization more secure when users receive calls from outside the company. This is part of Microsoft’s continued effort to improve caller identification and keep collaboration secure.

Microsoft is advising users to get ready for an upcoming feature by informing their teams about it. This includes explaining how Teams will automatically start showing warnings during calls to help prevent fraud.
Microsoft has delayed the launch of its Wi-Fi location tracking feature until mid-March. This feature tracks your location while connected to your work’s Wi-Fi network, and has raised privacy concerns about companies monitoring employees as they ask people to return to the office.
