Microsoft is giving away limited-edition Crocs inspired by Windows XP to celebrate its 50th anniversary! These special Crocs feature the classic green hills and blue sky wallpaper from XP, along with a back strap and fun Jibbitz charms shaped like familiar Microsoft icons. The giveaway was announced earlier this summer, so don’t miss your chance to win a pair!
It looks like you can’t simply purchase the Windows XP Crocs. Instead, you have to enter a contest for a chance to win them, making it quite difficult to get a pair.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Microsoft is releasing a special edition Crocs bundle. According to Microsoft’s head of communications, Frank Shaw, the bundle features Crocs inspired by the classic Windows XP design, unique Jibbitz™ charms, and a drawstring backpack with a Bliss theme.
To enter the contest, you’ll need an Instagram account. Just follow Microsoft on Instagram and leave a comment on this post using the hashtag #MicrosoftCrocSweepstakes for a chance to win. Hopefully, Microsoft will sell these worldwide soon.
The iconic ‘Bliss’ wallpaper from Windows XP is likely one of the most seen photos ever. Taken in California in 1996 by Charles O’Rear, Microsoft purchased the rights to it in 2000. It became the default wallpaper for Windows XP, a hugely successful operating system.
Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of nostalgic releases. It started in April with a look back at the company’s history, and has included fun items like limited-edition Windows XP-themed Crocs and a special Surface Laptop 7 featuring a classic Microsoft logo. They’ve even playfully brought back the iconic startup sound from Windows Vista in test versions of Windows and released commemorative wallpapers.
