Mike Coulter Joins Daredevil: Born Again Cast in Comic Con Panel (Is Luke Cage in Season 2?)

The inaugural season of “Daredevil: Born Again” significantly cemented the lore of the initial Netflix series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline. Set several years after the end of “Daredevil” Season 3, this series expanded upon the interconnected narratives of characters like Matt Murdock (portrayed by Charlie Cox), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), along with their adversary Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), and reintroduced Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). Furthermore, this continuation has broadened the ties between Daredevil and the larger MCU.

[Minor spoilers ahead for the ending of “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 1]

The first series of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ ended with Daredevil, who had been defeated, realizing that forming new partnerships would be crucial in his continuous battle against Mayor Fisk. This plot development has already guaranteed Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) will return for season 2. It seems now that another of Netflix’s original Defenders is about to jump back into action, which could possibly lead to a gathering of the street-level superheroes again.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The bustling set of Hell’s Kitchen is about to get even more crowded with the arrival of Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Mike Colter, Krysten Ritter, and Vincent D’Onofrio at this year’s New York Comic Con on October 11 (Saturday) and October 12 (Sunday). If you’re planning to attend on Sunday, don’t miss out on the early bird pricing – prices will go up starting September 9. So, mark your calendars now!

At the New York Comic-Con, it’s been announced that there will be a panel titled “New York City’s Heroes & Villains” during their October event. This panel includes actors like Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Ann Woll, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Ritter. Interestingly, while the other panelists are confirmed for the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 cast, Mike Colter’s inclusion is intriguing, as he hasn’t been officially announced yet. However, his presence with his former co-stars might hint at Luke Cage rejoining the fight against Mayor Fisk, potentially suggesting that the Defenders are planning to reunite.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Could Solve the Biggest Luke Cage Cliffhanger

The standalone Luke Cage series, airing for two seasons on Netflix prior to its unexpected termination, was acclaimed for delving into crime, politics, and power within Harlem. The show received praise for its cultural authenticity, captivating characters, and a captivating lead portrayal by Colter. Sadly, the series ended in 2018 with an abrupt cliffhanger that remains unresolved. In the finale of the second season, following his victory over Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard), Luke Cage inherited her nightclub, Harlem’s Paradise, and essentially became the new crime boss of Harlem. This choice placed him at odds with his friends and supporters, including Misty Knight (Simone Missick), and led him down a morally grey path, with the season concluding before the repercussions of his new position were further developed.

For quite some time now, there’s been much anticipation and discussion among fans about the possibility of a third season for the series Luke Cage. Occasionally, hints have come from the creative team about what this potential season might entail. For instance, the showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker mentioned that if there was a third season, it would explore Luke’s challenges in upholding his morals amidst the criminal underworld. The episode titles were also planned to be influenced by songs from the band Public Enemy.

Born Again showcased a billboard in Times Square advertising Harlem’s Paradise, implying that the club continues to operate within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Now, Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage, is joining the Born Again cast at an upcoming Comic-Con panel, which strongly suggests that the second season will delve into Luke Cage’s storyline. His return could potentially resolve his cliffhanger from six years ago, as it will explore whether Luke Cage has been negatively influenced by his powers or if he has found a way to use them for good.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again premieres in March 2026 on Disney+.
