Miles Morales‘ arrival in the Marvel universe changed how we think about characters taking over a hero’s mantle, demonstrating that a successor could become just as iconic as the original. Despite a rocky start, Miles evolved into a modern hero, and this really took off with the hugely popular and critically praised Spider-Verse movies. Surprisingly, the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t fully embraced his popularity, especially considering his importance to the multiverse—a core concept in the current MCU. With Marvel Studios gearing up for the major changes in Avengers: Secret Wars, a fresh start offers the ideal opportunity for a new Spider-Man to step forward.
Caleb McLaughlin, known for playing Lucas on Stranger Things, said he’d be thrilled to play Miles Morales in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He told Variety that he feels a strong connection to the character, especially as a New Yorker who was deeply moved by the Spider-Verse story. He believes Miles represents something important for many people, including himself.
Marvel Studios Must Add Miles Morales to the MCU Soon

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited about Avengers: Secret Wars and how it could finally bring Miles Morales into the main MCU timeline! The original Secret Wars comic was a massive event, and Miles played a huge role – he actually moved from his universe into the main Marvel one when everything merged. Knowing that Kevin Feige wants this movie to be a sort of ‘reset’ for the MCU, simplifying things after all the multiverse craziness, it makes perfect sense to me. Adapting that specific part of the comic would let Marvel introduce Miles as a core hero in this new, streamlined timeline without having to retell his origin story. It’s a brilliant way to bring him in and make him feel like he truly belongs!
There’s growing evidence that we’ll soon see Miles Morales join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a live-action film. Sony’s recent Spider-Man spin-off movies, like Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter, haven’t done well, so Sony Pictures is reportedly working more closely with Marvel Studios. Their partnership has already been incredibly successful with the Tom Holland Spider-Man films, and bringing Miles Morales into the mix seems like the natural next move to keep the franchise strong in theaters. There’s also buzz that Caleb McLaughlin, known for Stranger Things, might be cast as Miles, which would be exciting since his Stranger Things co-star, Sadie Sink, is rumored to be playing Jean Grey in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This could create a fantastic connection between the popular Stranger Things cast and the massive Marvel film universe.
The new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, will hit theaters on July 31st. Fans will have to wait a bit longer for Avengers: Secret Wars, which is planned for release on December 17, 2027.
