Miley Cyrus Says She Was “So Surprised” by Maxx Morando’s Proposal

It was a one in a million chance Maxx Morando would catch Miley Cyrus off guard—but he did it. 

Miley Cyrus, known for her role in Hannah Montana, recently shared her surprise and excitement about her engagement to Liily drummer Dominic Fike. She told Good Morning America on December 3rd that he proposed to her while they were traveling in Japan.

Miley confessed she’s not easily shocked, explaining she usually likes to be in charge of everything. But this time, she’d let go of control and was genuinely, completely taken by surprise.

The location held a special meaning for Miley, as she hadn’t visited Japan before her proposal. She explained that she wanted a unique and personal place, saved specifically for this moment.

While showing off her ring—a plain gold band that really highlighted the large, sparkling diamond—Miley simply said, “He did good!”

Following the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash – a film for which Miley Cyrus wrote the song “Dream as One” – the 33-year-old singer said she feels like everything is falling into place, marking a significant moment in her four-year relationship.

Miley shared that she’s grown a lot over the past four years. She emphasized the importance of having big dreams and having supportive people who believe in you.

Okay, so Miley actually said she was shocked at how well she and her fiancé managed to keep things secret for so long! Like, she couldn’t believe they pulled it off until they were ready to tell everyone. It’s just… amazing, honestly. She’s so good at everything!

She told People magazine on December 2nd that she’s surprised she’s been able to maintain her privacy, especially while keeping a low profile. She also feels having more control over what she shares is partly due to getting older and becoming more protective of her personal life.

Since starting her relationship with Maxx in 2021, Miley has often said that no one understands or loves her like he does.
