Millie Bobby Brown Reveals Godfather to Her and Jake Bongiovi’s Baby

Millie Bobby Brown is making a Stranger Things castmate a part of her forever family.

This summer, after adopting a baby girl with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, she shared that one of her dearest friends will be her daughter’s godfather.

Millie recently shared with Entertainment Tonight at the season five premiere of the Netflix series that Noah is her child’s godfather.

Millie definitely trusts her fellow cast members—Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Joe Keery, and Gavin Matarazzo—to look after her baby.

Millie explained that Sadie is naturally caring. She feels she can trust all the parents to be truthful, and they all become incredibly sweet and gentle when speaking to Sadie, using baby talk.

Even though it took years to make the newest season of the Duffer Brothers’ show, Millie has confirmed that the actors remain very close.

“We’re just a group of friends who like to spend time together,” Millie told TopMob News at the premiere. “We’re always figuring out when and where we can all meet up, no matter where everyone is.”

The star of Enola Holmes revealed that she and her baby’s godfather are the most talkative members of the cast’s group chat. She described them as “pretty active” in the conversation.

I’m so glad to hear that Noah doesn’t plan on losing touch with his co-stars, even now that Stranger Things is finishing up! It’s heartwarming to know those friendships will continue, even after the show ends.

Noah introduced his family, explaining that they’re more than just relatives – they’re the people he grew up with and considers lifelong friends. He emphasized that their connection goes much deeper than any professional relationship.

Even though the final episode won’t be available to viewers until December 31st, Noah shared his thoughts on how the cast felt on their last day of shooting.

He said it was a truly memorable day. Everyone came, even those who weren’t actively involved in filming, and all their parents were there too.

He gushed, “That last day was the most memorable of my life.”

Before creating Stranger Things, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer worked on M. Night Shyamalan’s TV show Wayward Pines. Their initial idea for the series was actually called Montauk.

Matt explained to The Daily Beast in 2016 that it’s incredibly difficult to convince people to change a title once you’ve become attached to it. He said that when they first suggested Stranger Things, it was a struggle to get others to accept it.

The creators of the show originally wanted to film on Long Island, but it turned out to be too difficult to do so.

I’ve always loved Montauk – the ocean, the whole vibe. It’s actually where they filmed parts of Jaws, which is my all-time favorite movie, so when I heard we might be filming there, I was incredibly excited! But honestly, the idea of shooting on Long Island during the winter quickly became a nightmare. It would have been freezing, and just way too expensive to make it work.

Atlanta ultimately became the home base for production.

Let me tell you, getting ‘Stranger Things’ made wasn’t easy! I heard from a reliable source that nearly 20 networks actually turned it down before Netflix took a chance. The big concern? Executives didn’t think viewers would connect with a show centered around four kids. Can you believe that? Thankfully, Netflix saw the potential, and the rest is history!

4. To play Eleven, then 12-year-old Millie Bobby Brown had to say goodbye to her hair.

During a 2018 event, the actress shared that shaving her head was the most liberating experience of her life. She explained that as the last of her hair fell, she felt completely exposed, but in a good way – she could no longer hide behind it. Looking in the mirror, she felt a strong sense of purpose: to inspire others. She realized that beauty doesn’t depend on having hair.

She found inspiration for her role in both Charlize Theron’s performance in Mad Max: Fury Road and old yearbook pictures of her fellow actress, Winona Ryder.

She mentioned that Winona Ryder’s short, pixie cut was iconic and inspired her to try the style herself.

The British actress shared that she used a surprising source to nail her American accent: Miley Cyrus’s show, Hannah Montana. She told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that it was ‘so good’ and helped her perfect the accent, praising the show as ‘amazing’ in every way.

The Duffer brothers used scenes from the movie Stand By Me when auditioning young actors to find the four main child stars for their show.

Honestly, the creators had a pretty specific idea of who they wanted for Mike. But then Finn Wolfhard came in to audition, and everything changed! He just was Mike, and they knew it instantly. It was amazing to watch happen.

Matt explained to The Daily Beast in 2016 that Mike originally resembled the character Mikey from The Goonies – a bit of a dreamer. However, Finn Wolfhard brought a nervous, energetic quality to the audition, so they tailored the character to fit his personality.

Gaten Matarazzo, who played Dustin, also had a big impact on the show’s development. According to Matt, they initially envisioned Dustin as a typical nerd, but after meeting Gaten, they rewrote the character to better suit his talents and personality.

After the show gained popularity, Kellogg’s noticed a big jump in Eggo waffle sales, thanks to Eleven’s love for them. Sales increased by 14% in late 2017, following the release of season two, and October of that year saw the highest number of social media mentions for the product ever.

In early 2018, David Harbour became an internet sensation when he agreed to take a fan’s senior portraits for her. It all started when the fan tweeted asking him to do her photos and offering a retweet goal. Harbour responded, saying he’d do it if the tweet got 25,000 retweets, and he even requested to wear the school sweatshirt and hold a trombone. True to his promise, he followed through and took the photos.

He jokingly predicted on Instagram that he’d be the one to take over someone else’s high school senior photos, even 24 years in the future.

Later that year, Harbour playfully offered to marry a fan if she could get 125,000 retweets and a piece of wedding cake. He became officially ordained and ended up performing the ceremony dressed as his character, Chief Hopper.

Fans often speculated that Eleven might be Hopper’s biological daughter, but he ultimately became her father figure. A touching detail revealed in the season two finale showed Eleven wearing a blue braided bracelet – a bracelet Hopper always wore, made from a ribbon belonging to his deceased daughter – at her school dance.

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, said her first-ever kiss was with Finn Wolfhard (Mike) during season one of the show. She described it as a bizarre experience, explaining that having a huge crew watching made it feel very overwhelming.

She shared what her co-star secretly told her right before they had to kiss for a second time on the show.

She recounted on The Tonight Show in 2017 that he warned her he was about to kiss her, saying something like, ‘I’m coming in.’ She described his delivery as if he were a ventriloquist, calling the whole experience bizarre.

Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, who star as Nancy and Jonathan in the show, started dating in 2016 and have generally kept their romance out of the public eye.

Natalia shared with Refinery29 that she values keeping her personal life—relationships with family and friends—private. However, she also acknowledged that collaborating with someone you see outside of work can be enjoyable, saying, ‘It’s always really fun.’

Surprisingly, Joe Keery’s character, Steve Harrington, wasn’t originally meant to survive the first season of the show.

According to Ross, they quickly grew fond of Joe Keery, the actor playing Steve, during the first season. This affection led them to create a storyline where Steve teams up with Jonathan and Nancy to help resolve the central conflict. Originally, Steve was intended to be a stereotypical, unpleasant athlete, but Keery brought much more depth to the character.

18. Also slated to perish was Eleven. Yes, really

In the book Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down, Ross Duffer explained that the original plan was for Eleven to sacrifice herself to save everyone. However, when they realized the show might continue beyond a single season, they had to change that storyline. They knew Stranger Things wouldn’t work without Eleven, and they quickly recognized how talented Millie Bobby Brown was. If the show was going to have a future, Eleven needed to survive.

The seventh episode of the second season, called “The Lost Sister,” nearly didn’t make it onto screens. The Duffer brothers told Vulture they worried the episode—which focuses on Eleven’s search for another child with similar experiences—would disrupt the story’s flow.

Matt explained that as they started writing the episode, they questioned whether it was even necessary. They seriously considered cutting it entirely, but the planned ending involving Eleven didn’t work without it. Ultimately, they decided the episode was essential to the story.

20. Eleven’s sibling was written to be a boy, with the episode originally titled “The Lost Brother.”

Once the audition was open to all young actors, Linnea Berthelsen won the role. The resulting episode showed Eleven meeting her “sister,” Kali. According to Matt, Linnea and Millie (who plays Eleven) had a strong connection, and Millie specifically requested to work with Linnea.

Nicola Coughlan, known for her role in Bridgerton, originally tried out for the part of Robin. However, she later landed the role of Penelope Featherington. Maya Hawke ended up getting the part of Robin, and Nicola has said Hawke was much better suited for it than she would have been.

As someone who’s been in the entertainment industry a while, I’ve learned a really valuable lesson about auditions and rejections. Honestly, it’s something I tell every aspiring actor: always pay attention to the roles that pass you by. When you see who did get the part, it really helps you realize it’s not about you personally! You’re simply suited for certain roles and not others, and that’s perfectly okay. It’s about finding the right fit, and that applies to so much more than just acting, really.

Before becoming known for her role as Sarah on the Netflix series Outer Banks, Madelyn Cline played the character Tina, a popular and somewhat unkind student, in the second season of the show.

To land the role of Billy, the rebellious older stepbrother of Max (Sadie Sink), Australian actor Dacre Montgomery created a memorable audition tape. He told GQ he aimed to impress the Duffer brothers with something bold and attention-grabbing.

Dacre took a big risk to get noticed: he filmed himself dancing in a G-string to 80s hits like “Come on Eileen” and “Hungry Like the Wolf.” He worried it might end his career, but he hoped someone would recognize his talent and give him an opportunity. Luckily, the gamble worked out for him.

As the show began its third season, Deadline reported significant pay raises for the cast. The younger actors saw their per-episode salaries jump from around $30,000 to over $200,000, and potentially as high as $250,000. Winona Ryder and David Harbour were earning approximately $300,000 to $350,000 per episode, while Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton were making between $100,000 and $150,000.

Priah Ferguson was originally scheduled for just one episode in season two as Erica, Lucas’s feisty younger sister. However, the Duffer brothers were so impressed with her performance that they kept adding her to scenes. She became a main cast member in the next season.

Because the young actors were still growing during filming, the costume designers had a hard time making sure their clothes fit consistently from scene to scene.

It was a real challenge keeping up with how fast the kids were growing,” costume designer Kim Wilcox explained to TopMob News. “One child, in particular, outgrew his shoes almost every three weeks! To solve this, we found brands that made their products in a wide range of sizes. We’d purchase five pairs of each size so we’d always have a replacement when a child had a growth spurt.

The Duffer brothers were inspired by classic films like The Goonies, E.T., and Stand By Me, but they made sure their references weren’t too obvious.

When we initially presented the project to Netflix, we created a lengthy, two-and-a-half-minute trailer. It combined clips and ideas from around 20 to 30 movies to give a sense of the Stranger Things story, but these were mostly concepts we had in mind, explained Matt in an interview with The Daily Beast. Those films were a huge influence on us growing up and are deeply ingrained in our creative process. However, when we started writing individual episodes, we didn’t spend much time directly referencing other movies. Our focus shifted to simply telling the story and letting the characters drive the plot. Otherwise, it would have become disorganized and confusing.”

The team aimed for a vintage look by minimizing special effects, but they soon discovered that was harder than they thought.

Originally, we wanted to use only practical effects, but we quickly learned how challenging that is—we really gained a new respect for the teams behind films like The Thing and Alien. Practical effects require a lot of time and planning. We were writing scripts rapidly, but didn’t have the months needed to properly prepare everything. When we got to set, many of the ideas that seemed good in theory just weren’t feasible given our time constraints.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following ‘Stranger Things’ closely, and it’s fascinating to hear how much of the original vision has come to life. The Duffer Brothers actually planned a five-season story from the very beginning, way back in 2015! Netflix executive Matthew Thunell shared with Variety that we’re now seeing those initial ideas unfold as the series wraps up. And just to give you a sense of the scale, each episode of season four reportedly cost around $30 million to produce – talk about a commitment to storytelling!

Although the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, know how the show will eventually end, they aren’t finished exploring the story and the world of the Upside Down.

In an interview with Variety, the creators revealed they have a spin-off idea they’re really enthusiastic about, but it’s still in the very early stages – they haven’t even shared the concept yet. Although they’ve been trying to keep it under wraps, Matt and Ross confessed that Finn had already correctly guessed what the series would be about, calling it “very, very different.” They emphasized that Finn is the only one who knows so far.
