Millie Bobby Brown Slams Claims Jake Bongiovi Doesn’t Help Her

Millie Bobby Brown is calling out this strange double standard. 

Less than a year after the Stranger Things star welcomed a baby with her husband Jake Bongiovi, she slammed the online skeptics who claim he doesn’t help her out. 

During a recent podcast appearance on Not Gonna Lie, Brown questioned why it seems women are now often offered help carrying things. She explained this came up because she routinely carries her own luggage, her child, and everything else, leading people to comment that her husband doesn’t help at all. She jokingly attributed this to being well-prepared and ‘three miles ahead’ of everyone else, having planned everything in advance.

Recently, Millie Bobby Brown has been doing most of the carrying when she and Bongiovi go out, while he walks with his hands free. Brown has noticed that people are criticizing them unfairly, pointing out a double standard in how they react to who carries what.

We focus on encouraging girls to be independent – telling them they can succeed on their own and don’t need to rely on a partner. But it’s frustrating because when I demonstrate that independence – like saying I can handle things myself – people immediately ask where my husband is, implying I should need help.

The 22-year-old maintained, “I can do it on my own.”

And Brown also slammed fans who claim Bongiovi is not a good partner to her. 

“Nobody knows my husband,” she continued. “My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I’m capable.”

For her part, Brown has also emphasized how much she has embraced motherhood. 

Brown shared with UNICEF that while people often say they love their children, she finds that feeling difficult to grasp. She described it as an incredibly powerful and overwhelming emotion, something she struggles to fully understand or comprehend.

Trust, Brown has plenty of people in her village, including Bongiovi as well as her mom Kelly Brown and mother-in-law Dorothea Hurley. 

“It’s so great, I’m so honored to have support,” she continued. “It’s just so nice to hear reassurance.”
