The creators of the game MindsEye, Build a Rocket Boy, claim they will release a new mission with proof that their game was deliberately harmed by someone.
According to CEO Mark Gerhard, both people inside and outside the company were primarily responsible for the game’s failure, a point he’s made repeatedly.
He’s treating this very seriously, and investigations are underway by authorities in both the US and the UK. Gerhard says his team has solid proof suggesting someone intentionally damaged the company.
In a recent interview with GamesBeat, he reiterated that certain individuals actively worked to create a negative impression of the game, preventing it from being judged fairly. He described this as a deliberate and coordinated attempt to influence public opinion.
Gerhard explains that the project never had the opportunity to connect with its intended audience or be improved through the usual process of feedback and updates.
Now that the studio is independent from its former publisher, IO Interactive, it’s working to improve the game. They’re continuing to invest in updates, including a new in-game mission called Blacklist, which will introduce a new female character players can control.
Gerhard also mentioned they are sharing proof of the sabotage with the public.
This aligns with what our CEO has said before. He encouraged the company to be proactive and share their side of the story with the public, even before legal proceedings conclude. He believes this approach positions them as anything but victims in the situation.
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next. We’d love to hear your opinion – share your thoughts in the comments below!
