
Build A Rocket Boy’s game, *MindsEye*, launched last June, but it’s still facing problems. A recent BBC report, prompted by a letter from current and former employees represented by the UK Game Works Union, reveals that leadership consistently dismissed player and employee feedback and ignored reported issues.
Ben Newborn, who previously led feedback collection, said many important issues were raised but never addressed. Margherita Peloso, a former associate producer, shared a similar experience, explaining that her concerns were often dismissed and even mocked by those in charge.
Leading up to the game’s release, a video surfaced showing the studio’s plans to respond to player feedback. The video featured CEO Leslie Benzies playing the game and highlighting areas needing improvement. Surprisingly, this wasn’t just a demonstration – the studio actually followed through on those promises.
These issues, nicknamed “Leslie tickets,” involved completely removing developed features or missions. According to one source, Newborn, these tickets took absolute priority – everything else had to be put on hold to address them. A former employee, using the pseudonym Jamie, explained that this practice not only created problems, but also prevented developers from fully owning and being responsible for their work.
It’s currently unclear what the future holds for *MindsEye*. After recent layoffs at Build A Rocket Boy, the company hasn’t shared any plans for updates or if a sequel is still in development. We’ll keep you updated, and you can read our review of the game as it launched.
