Mojang Studios will release a native Switch 2 version of Minecraft in 2026, the developer announced.

Vibrant Visuals is the largest graphics update ever for Minecraft, and it will be the standard visual setting when the game launches on the new Switch 2 console!
Coming in June 2025 with our “Chase the Skies” update, Vibrant Visuals will dramatically change how players see Minecraft. We’re enhancing the game’s graphics with features like realistic lighting and fog. The effect is stunning – you’ll see shadows shift with the sun, sunlight sparkle on water, beautiful light patterns underwater, and clouds that seem to go on forever.
Super Mario Mash-Up is transformed with Vibrant Visuals
To mark the release of Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch 2, the popular Super Mario Mash-Up pack is getting a visual upgrade with improved, more vibrant graphics!
The Super Mario Mash-Up pack is only available for Minecraft on Nintendo consoles. It completely transforms Minecraft with a Super Mario theme, including new textures, music, and character skins. You can even explore famous locations inspired by the Super Mario Bros. games, like Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza, and enjoy a vibrant new look!
