Minecraft lets you get the Lava Chicken song in-game — but it’s absurdly rare

In my home this past summer, the tune that resonated was “Lava Chicken”. This was because we had been continuously watching A Minecraft Movie, and I couldn’t seem to get away from Jack Black’s infectiously catchy melody.

For the first time, you can now enjoy the incredibly addictive “La-la-la-lava chi-chi-chi-chicken” song within Minecraft Bedrock, on a music disc. However, it’s quite a rare find unless, like me, you prefer the ease of creative mode.

Minecraft 1.21.94 Bedrock update adds Lava Chicken 8-bit record

In the recent Minecraft 1.21.94 Bedrock update, defeating a rare creature known as the Chicken Jockey (a baby Zombie riding a Chicken) now rewards the Lava Chicken music disc. This elusive creature is not easy to encounter in the game, as only 15% of spawned Baby Zombies have the tendency to mount another creature, and an even smaller fraction of those will be found on a Chicken.

According to Minecraft’s wiki, each Baby Zombie has a 5% chance to search for a nearby Chicken, but the probability that this event occurs ranges from 0.25% to 0.4875%. It’s safe to say that many Minecraft players have never encountered one during Survival mode in their gaming experience.

Should you be lucky enough to spot a Chicken Jockey, defeating it will earn you the unique Lava Chicken music disc.

The easy and lazy way to get the Lava Chicken disc

In simpler terms, my boy usually enjoys playing in Creative Mode since he’s not focused on in-game awards; instead, he prefers building structures. So, we just took the ‘Hyper Potions – Lava Chicken’ item from the Creative inventory for a look. To play it, you’ll also need to summon a Jukebox. The downside is that it doesn’t have Jack Black’s voiceover, but it has a soundtrack close enough to the movie version to bring on some chuckles.

Other Minecraft movie items in the game

If your children, much like yours, are cinema enthusiasts for Minecraft and yearn to continue their movie experience within the game, Mojang has added numerous items straight from the film.

The Lava Chicken record serves as an enjoyable connection point between the film and the video game, and it’s undoubtedly a safer approach to commemorate the trend compared to bringing real chickens to cinemas.
