Mini Review: LEGO Voyagers (PS5) – A Short and Very Sweet Co-Op Experience

LEGO Voyagers is a surprisingly charming cooperative game, and it achieves this simple fun with just a handful of LEGO bricks.

I recently got to try this really cute puzzle platformer, and it’s a blast – but you *have* to play it with a friend! Luckily, it has a ‘Friend’s Pass’ so one of you doesn’t even need to own the game. You control two little LEGO guys who are trying to fix a spaceship launch that went wrong, and you work together to solve puzzles and get things back on track. It’s not super long, but it’s a really fun co-op experience.

In this game, whether you’re playing with someone nearby or online, you and another player control either the red or blue piece. Together, you’ll navigate a straightforward path and work to conquer different challenges.

The game is visually appealing, with a charming, LEGO-built world brought to life by beautiful lighting and a soft, slightly blurred focus. Everything, from the environments to little details like birds and butterflies, is constructed from LEGO bricks, and the shiny, colorful plastic creates a convincingly delightful look.

The game’s connection to LEGO goes beyond just how it looks – the puzzles are designed with LEGO building in mind. They aren’t very difficult, but most of them involve constructing simple things, like bridges or staircases, to open up new parts of the game.

It’s flexible and forgiving – you don’t have to build things perfectly. As long as your creation gets the job done, that’s what matters. This highlights how open-ended the building process is, while still presenting some challenges along the way.
