Mini Review: PowerWash Simulator 2 (PS5) – A Bigger, Better, Squeaky Clean Sequel

PowerWash Simulator 2 doesn’t stray far from the original’s winning formula. It keeps what players loved about the first game, while adding a few clever improvements and fresh features.

Okay, so this game is pretty much exactly what you’d expect if you liked the first one, but honestly, that’s a good thing! It’s just so satisfying to take these incredibly dirty vehicles and buildings and completely clean them up. You get all sorts of tools to do it, and the best part is earning money to buy even better tools as you go. It’s simple, but I’m totally hooked!

Cleaning up might seem tedious, but the satisfying sound of a part being fully cleaned is always enjoyable. Thankfully, the new version still captures that same satisfying feeling, and actually enhances the overall experience.

The central hub provides a temporary base between jobs, and you can personalize it with items you earn while cleaning. We’ve also added several new tools, including a special floor cleaner, better scaffolding, and ropes for tackling bigger projects.

Soap is much improved in this version; it felt a bit weak in the first game, but now it’s a lot more useful.

I’m really enjoying the new hub area, it definitely helps organize things! But honestly, the game still feels a little broken up. It’s weird having a van you can’t actually drive! The hub is a fun addition, but it almost feels like you don’t need it. Everything is accessed through menus, which just makes me feel a bit removed from the action, like I’m not really in the game world.

The game truly shines when it comes to giving you lots of different and engaging things to clean. From stylish art deco homes to cars shaped like animals, there’s always a new challenge. Plus, once you complete a level in career mode, you can revisit it anytime you want in free play.

PowerWash Simulator 2 doesn’t offer groundbreaking new ideas, but it’s a significant improvement over the first game in almost every way. If you weren’t a fan of the original, this probably won’t change your mind. However, if you enjoyed the relaxing and satisfying feeling of power washing, this sequel is a must-have.
