Mini Review: WWE 2K26 (PS5) – Grappling Sim’s Championship Reign Holds Strong

I can’t believe it! After 13 years, CM Punk is finally back on the cover of a WWE game! As a huge fan, I’m so excited to not only see his face on the box of WWE 2K26, but to actually play through his story in the Showcase mode. This is amazing!

Players can now experience a documentary-style game mode featuring footage of the athlete himself. It delves into his most intense rivalries, explores dream matchups that never happened, and tells the story of how he started. This mode is consistently excellent, and the way it’s presented is particularly impressive.

One of the highlights of 2K26 is MyRISE, where you design your own wrestler using the game’s incredibly detailed creation tools, then play through a career mode focused on overcoming challenges and achieving success in either the men’s or women’s division.

Throughout the game, you’ll face important choices about whether to be a hero or a villain, and it’s a really enjoyable experience. While the acting from the wrestlers isn’t always perfect, it doesn’t really detract from how good the game is overall.

Several improvements and updates have also been made to other game modes. For instance, the MyFaction card game now lets you create teams with players of any gender, and MyGM has received a number of adjustments.

In addition, further refinements have been made to Universe Mode.

We’re excited to offer new features for wrestling fans who prefer watching! Now, you can enjoy matches as if you’re viewing a televised broadcast, with dynamic camera angles and smooth transitions. Plus, you can watch full shows without frustrating loading screens.

Even the most dedicated fans might find minor things to critique, but these improvements are significant enough to make the latest installments in this series a must-have.

The Island is back this year, hoping to convince players to give its multiplayer wrestling world another try. You can join one of three factions, each led by a Superstar, and compete for dominance. While the game has improved with added voice acting, a fun new match type called the Scrapyard, and more character customization, we encountered several crashes during our playthrough. It still feels overly focused on making money, so your experience might be different than ours.

The new way DLC and unlockables are handled, similar to a Battle Pass, might not appeal to everyone, and some of the wrestler models look better than others. Despite these issues, WWE 2K26 is still a solid game from 2K and Visual Concepts that wrestling fans shouldn’t skip.
