I’m so thrilled to hear that Miss Scarlet is coming back for a seventh season on Masterpiece PBS! It’s bittersweet though, because they’ve also announced this will be the final season. I’m going to enjoy every moment and give this amazing show the send-off it deserves!
Filming has started on the final season of the show, with Kate Phillips – known for her work on ‘Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light’ – taking the lead. The production is taking place in Serbia.
PBS’s Masterpiece also shared a video on social media with stars Siân Phillips and Tom Durant Pritchard, who plays Detective Inspector Alexander Blake, to announce the show’s renewal.
Phillips shares their excitement for viewers to see the new season, but also delivers some disappointing news: this will be the final season of the show.
Pritchard adds: “But do not fret because we will be going out with a bang.”
Miss Scarlet, initially known as Miss Scarlet & The Duke, follows Eliza Scarlet as she becomes London’s first female detective. Taking over her father’s detective agency, she solves intriguing cases and has gained a dedicated following since the show premiered in 2020.
At the beginning of the series, Eliza worked with her childhood friend, Detective Inspector William Wellington (Stuart Martin) from Scotland Yard. However, after season four, his character left the show, and the series was then called Miss Scarlet.
Durant then joined the series in season 5 as a replacement for Martin.
Season 7 will bring back stars Durant and Phillips, alongside familiar faces Paul Bazely, Tim Chipping, Evan McCabe, Felix Scott, Cordelia Bugeja, and Ansu Kabia.

The seventh season of the show finds Eliza Scarlet happily in love, but she’s also facing fresh difficulties in both her work and personal life, according to the official description.
She’s dealing with increasing stress at work and in her personal life when she reconnects with old friends. At the same time, a new and unexpected crime boss arrives, adding to the chaos. Elsewhere, Blake’s new job comes with its own challenges, as he now reports to someone from his past with whom he has a difficult relationship.
Rachel New, the creator and writer of the show, shared that she’s really pleased with how the final season unfolds and the story arc for the character Eliza.
It’s really hard to say goodbye to a character I’ve played for so long, but Eliza will always be a part of me, both as an actress and personally.
Phillips expressed her immense pride in their accomplishments and the memories they’ve created together. She’s eager to give Miss Scarlet a proper and memorable farewell.
