Miss Universe 2025 Crowns Winner After Walkout Controversy

Miss Mexico has gotten her flowers.

Fátima Bosch Fernández won the Miss Universe competition on November 21st. Praveener Singh of Thailand finished as the first runner-up, and Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser from Venezuela placed third.

Winning the title wasn’t easy for the 25-year-old. During the competition, pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisi publicly criticized her, even calling her “dumb” because she hadn’t fulfilled a requirement. When security asked her to leave, the other contestants protested by walking out in support of her.

In a recent interview, she shared on Instagram that she’s determined to speak out and isn’t afraid to do so. She feels empowered and has a clear message she wants to share with her country.

She explained that she wasn’t there to be simply admired for her appearance. She was there to speak for all women and girls who stand up for what they believe in, and to show her country how dedicated she was to that purpose.

After Fátima won first place, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum praised her for standing up for herself despite facing challenges.

The president told reporters, according to NBC News, that this situation shows the importance of women speaking up. She believes women are more powerful and respected when they advocate for their rights and participate actively in discussions.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the recent Miss Universe drama, and it’s been quite a story! Beyond the crowning of the winner, we saw some serious behind-the-scenes issues. Two of the judges actually resigned, with one going public claiming the competition was rigged. The other is even considering legal action against the organization, according to reports from NBC News. It definitely adds a layer of complexity to what’s usually a celebration of beauty and empowerment.

During the evening gown portion of the competition, Jamaica’s Gabrielle Henry had a frightening fall. While modeling a beautiful, sparkling orange dress, she stepped off the edge of the stage and tumbled to the ground.

A video of the accident posted online showed people quickly running to help Gabrielle before paramedics took her away on a stretcher.

After the upsetting event, Raúl Rocha, a co-owner of the pageant, gave a positive update about how the Miss Jamaica contestant was doing.

According to an Instagram post, I just left the hospital where she’s receiving treatment. I was with her and her family, and thankfully, she didn’t break any bones and is getting good care. She’ll be monitored overnight, and we’re staying in contact with her family to offer support.

He added, “Our prayers go out for her prompt recovery.”
