Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Crosses Another Major Milestone

The most recent “Mission: Impossible” movie, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” has achieved another significant victory at the box office by overtaking one of Tom Cruise’s other films in terms of earnings. Specifically, it has surpassed the fifth film in the series, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.” As of this weekend, “The Final Reckoning” has earned $195,811,000 domestically, edging out “Rogue Nation’s” domestic earnings of $195,042,377. However, it remains to be seen whether “The Final Reckoning” will surpass the worldwide box office earnings of “Rogue Nation,” a feat that currently seems improbable.

The current global earnings for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” stand at approximately $588.8 million, but this could shift slightly as final figures are released this week. To put things in perspective, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” concluded its cinema run with a total of $682.71 million worldwide. Interestingly, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” has already surpassed the entire box office collection of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”, which made $571.1 million two years ago.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the latest Mission: Impossible film received an 80% Fresh rating, while audiences on the Popcorn Meter gave it an impressive 88%. As of now, it’s unclear whether there will be more films in the Mission: Impossible series, as Paramount has not definitively ruled out further installments, despite this one being titled “The Final Reckoning”.

The “Mission: Impossible” movie series kicked off in 1996, featuring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, a U.S. agent wrongfully accused of betrayal. To clear his name, Hunt embarks on a mission to unmask the true spy, all while operating without assistance from the Impossible Missions Force.

It’s uncertain at this point if Paramount will produce another Mission: Impossible film following The Final Reckoning. Although there’s a possibility for more Ethan Hunt adventures, no new title in the series has been confirmed by Paramount and Cruise as of yet. After facing budget difficulties, the action-thriller Deeper, which Tom Cruise is currently marketing to various studios, will be Cruise’s next project following The Final Reckoning.

In the most recent addition, titled “Mission: Impossible – A Final Accounting“, Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt, Hayley Atwell takes on the role of Grace, Ving Rhames reprises his character Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg portrays Benji Dunn, Pom Klementieff is Paris, Esai Morales is Gabriel, Nick Offerman is General Sidney, Hannah Waddingham plays Admiral Neely, Angela Bassett stars as Erika Sloane, and Shea Whigham appears as Briggs. The film was helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote the script with Bruce Geller and Erik Jendresen.

Currently showing in cinemas nationwide, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” For enthusiasts yearning for more franchise adventures, the rest of the series can be streamed on Paramount+, while some films are also streaming on Netflix. Pre-orders are available for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” on Blu-ray and DVD.
